Born and raised in the small town of Baskin, Louisiana, Lainey Wilson grew up listening to classic country songs that fueled her passion for music.
With a population of less than 300 people, Baskin was a humble beginning for the future star.
Lainey was born on May 19, 1992, making her 31 years old as of 2023. Her parents, Brian and Michelle Wilson, played pivotal roles in her upbringing.
Brian, a fifth-generation farmer, taught Lainey how to play guitar and instilled in her a strong work ethic and honesty.
Michelle, a schoolteacher, encouraged Lainey to chase her dreams. Lainey also has an older sister, Janna Wilson, who is an entrepreneur and designer.
Lainey’s musical journey began at a young age. At nine, she attended a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, sparking her love for country music.
With guidance from her father, she learned to play guitar and began writing songs in her preteen years. She even performed as a Hannah Montana impersonator at events across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
In 2011, Lainey moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career as a country music singer-songwriter. She lived in a camper trailer outside a recording studio, dedicating herself to songwriting and performing small shows.
Her perseverance paid off when she released her first album in 2014, followed by a second album in 2016 that charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums list.
Lainey’s big break came when she signed a publishing deal with SONY/ATV in 2018 and a record label deal with BBR Music Group in 2019.
She quickly became a rising star in the country music scene, with her hit single “Things a Man Oughta Know” reaching number one on the American Country Songs chart in 2021.
Lainey Wilson is in a relationship with Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges, a former NFL quarterback and real estate agent.
They made their public debut as a couple at the ACM Awards in May 2023, although they had been dating for over two years.
