Miranda Lambert has always had a soft spot for old-school snail mail. Fans of her music know she loves to send out postcards to tease new album releases.
But what many people don’t know is that this love for writing letters played a big part in her relationship with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.
Miranda shared all these sweet details during a conversation on the Dumb Blonde podcast , hosted by Bunnie Xo, which would be released on Monday, August 19.
Lambert first met McLoughlin on the set of Good Morning America. She was there with her band, the Pistol Annies, to promote their Interstate Gospel album.
Lambert’s bandmate, Angaleena Presley, was the one who first noticed McLoughlin, playfully pointing out the “hot cop” to Lambert.
After their first meeting, Miranda’s team offered Brendan a ticket to her show that night.
But here’s the interesting part—he was given only one ticket, so he had to go alone. Brendan didn’t seem to mind; he went to the show by himself.
Afterward, he and Miranda met up, and they spent time together, just talking and getting to know each other.
According to Miranda, there wasn’t any agenda or pressure—they were simply enjoying each other’s company.
After that night, Miranda had a unique idea to keep in touch with Brendan. Instead of texting or calling, she suggested they become pen pals.
“We wrote each other literal letters, like, old-school,”Miranda shared. Brendan, who is eight years younger than Miranda, was surprised by the idea but went along with it.
Writing letters became a special way for them to stay connected as they got to know each other better.
At first glance, Miranda and Brendan might seem like an unlikely match.
Miranda is from a small town in Texas, while Brendan comes from Staten Island in New York City.
There’s also a bit of an age gap between them. But despite these differences, they found they had a lot in common.
Brendan comes from a family of law enforcement and first responders, and both he and Miranda have strong, aligned attitudes.
One of the things Miranda loves most about Brendan is his honesty.
As a big star in the country music world, Miranda appreciates having someone in her life who isn’t afraid to tell her the truth.
“He’s a harsh New Yorker, and I like that because he just tells it like it is,” Miranda explained. “He doesn’t sugarcoat. He calls me on my s–t.”
This honesty is something Miranda values, especially because she believes it’s important not to surround herself with “yes” people—those who just agree with everything she says.
Miranda and Brendan’s relationship moved quickly. They got married in 2019, only a few months after they first met.
Miranda decided to keep their relationship private until after they were married, surprising fans when she shared the news in February of that year.
Miranda Lambert has had a lot of ups and downs in her love life.
She started dating country singer Blake Shelton in 2006, and they quickly became a well-known couple in the country music world.
They got engaged in May 2010 and were married on May 14, 2011, at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas.
Sadly, their marriage ended in divorce after four years, with the couple announcing their split in July 2015.
Later that same year, Miranda began dating R&B singer Anderson East , whom she met at Nashville’s Live on the Green Music Festival.
Their relationship lasted for about two years before they broke up in early 2018.
Afterward, Miranda had a short relationship with Evan Felker, the lead singer of Turnpike Troubadours , but they parted ways in August 2018.
In a happy turn of events, Miranda married New York City Police Officer Brendan McLoughlin on January 26, 2019, and shared the news on social media in February.
