Morgan Wallen , an American pop-country singer and songwriter, remained steadfast in the face of criticism and accusations.
It’s hard to believe that Morgan Wallen’s first single in country music was released less than ten years ago. “ Spin You Around” was his first release under Panacea Records back in 2015, but it doesn’t make this list.
In 2014, he tried to make it big in the music industry by competing on Season 6 of “ The Voice”. He chose Usher as his coach but was eliminated in the semi-finals by Adam Levine.
The Tennessee native’s journey didn’t end there, however, as one of their vocal coaches, Sergio Sanchez, introduced him to some of the executives at Panacea Records, and he signed with the label after releasing his first EP, “Stand Alone.”
Within two years of signing with Big Loud Records, Wallen released a new single “The Way I Talk” off of his first full-length studio album “If I Know Me”.
The album produced three number-one hits for Wallen, and the entire album was a chart-topping success. Several of these tracks appear on this compilation of Wallen’s best songs.
For Wallen, the number 865 is a bit personal. He grew up in East Tennessee, and the song’s title was originally sent to him as “919.” He had never heard that area code before, so he decided to change it to “865” to make it more personal.
But Wallen doesn’t just stop with the area code. The lyrics include a 10-digit cell phone number that’s connected to a real mobile phone. For example, if you call 865-919-1021, you’ll be put through to a US TelePunch number, but you’ll need a 4-digit code. Wallen did not provide that code.
Wallen’s love of whiskey was evident in his inclusion of “Me on Whiskey” on the 2nd disc of “Dangerous: The Double Album”. Although Wallen did not write this song, it resonates with much of what was going on on the project.
The lyrics were written by Rodney Clawson and Mark Holman, along with Ernest K. Smith, also known as Ernest.
In this cheeky love song, Wallen finds himself and his flame “tipping Tennesee in the neon light”. What begins as an ordinary date night quickly turns into a steamy affair after Wallen indulges in the whiskey and she indulges in the wine.
Wallen wrote “Chasin’ You” with Jamie Moore, Craig Wiseman, and it became his third chart-topping single, reaching number one on the Billboard country Airplay chart for the first time in his career.
The song has since gone on to become a 4X Platinum certified single. The song is about Wallen’s heartbreak after losing the one true love in his life. “No matter what – or who – comes my way, I’ll always chase that first love,” Wallen says in the song.
To accompany the release of the song, Wallen released a black and white video in which he drives around town in his convertible.
Drawing inspiration from the concept of alcohol’s proof, “You Proof” finds Wallen again turning to alcohol to soothe the pain of a break-up, when 90 and 100 proof don’t cut it anymore, he decides he needs something “you proof”.
“You Proof,” released as a promotional single, is included on Wallen’s 2023 album, “One Thing at a Time,” which he co-writes with Charlie Handsome and Ashley Gorley, as well as Ernest.
The song debuted at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart (the new number one on the chart’s history), replacing “ Thought You Should know”.
It’s his fifth single to make it to number one on that chart, and although it’s been bumped from number one a few times, ‘You Proof’ has spent 10 consecutive weeks at number one, setting a new record for the Hot Country Songs chart.
“One thing at a time,” is one of Morgan wallen’s best songs, for a reason.
Wallen sells his Silverado so he can buy a diamond ring and propose to his girlfriend. In his ad for the sale, Wallen talks about how the truck helped him get his girl — a tool, you might say.
In support of his double album, “ Dangerous“, Wallen released several singles. Although they were not officially radio singles, they all sold well. “Someone’s Problem” became a certified 2X Platinum single after selling over 2 million copies.
It also peaked at number one on both the “Billboard Hot 100” and “Hot Country Songs” charts. Ernest, Jacob Durrett, and Rodney Clawson all co-wrote “Someone’s Problem.”
Wallen finds a new love and wonders why the last guy let her go. He thinks she must have been someone’s problem and he’s happy that she’s about to be his next.
The Way I Talk was released as the lead single from Wallen’s debut studio album If I Know Me on September 12, 2016. The song was co-written by Jessi Alexander and Ben Hayslip, and was produced by Chase McGill.
Wallen said that the song resonated with him because it spoke to the way he lived his life and what he was proud of.
“The Way I Talk” is a song that celebrates his Southern roots and how he lives them without hiding it. The song peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, and it was his first single to make it to Country Airplay.
Wasted on you takes a look at all the things that have gone wrong with an ex. Wallen says that he has said “I’m sorry” too many times in his life for things he hasn’t done.
The song was written by Wallen, Ernest and Josh Thompson, and was produced by Ryan Voytesak.
It is the fourth and last single to be released from the upcoming album, “ Wasted On You,” which was released as the second single from the album “Dangerous”.
The song debuted at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs (HCS) chart. It also made it to number 10 on the Hot Country Albums (TCS) chart.
Wallen’s songs “ Somebody’s Problem”, “ Warning,” “ Sand in my Boots” “7 Summers” and “ More than My Hometown” made it to number one on both the HCS and TCS charts.
He is the first artist in history to place six songs on the Top 10 of both the HCS chart and the Top 10 of the TCS chart simultaneously. “
If you’ve ever been raised in a small town, you know that some people will never leave their homelands.
In “More than My Hometown ”, Wallen finds himself in a situation where, despite the fact that someone cares deeply about him, he can’t bring himself to leave the place that made him fall in love with them in the first place.
Wallen co-wrote the track with Hardy and Ernest, as well as the song “ Ryan Veggies”.
It served as the first single from the upcoming album, “Dangerous: The Double Album”.
The song was later certified 4X Platinum and went straight to number one on the Billboard country airplay chart.
Wallen allows his mama’s boy flag to fly in “ Thought you Should Know,” a love letter to his mom. He talks about all the successes he’s had and reassures her that he’s doing well. He also tells his mom that her prayers for him haven’t been in vain.
The song was co-written with his mother, Lesli Wallen, and Miranda Lambert, and was produced by Galyon.
“Thought you should know” debuted at number one on the “Billboard Hot Country Songs” chart, Wallen’s fourth single to reach the number one spot.
He happened to be the first artist in history to debut at number one with his own song “Wasted on you” and it’s since been certified Platinum.
