Big news for Rascal Flatts fans! The iconic country trio has officially announced their much-anticipated Life Is a Highway Reunion Tour, which will kick off on the 13th of February 2025.
The tour celebrates 25 years of their incredible journey in country music.
But here’s an interesting twist: part of the inspiration for their comeback is thanks to none other than rock legends, the Eagles.
In a recent interview, Rascal Flatts members shared insights into their reunion, and how other bands, particularly the Eagles, helped shape the way they’ll approach their comeback.
Keep reading for more details!
When talking about their reunion, Jay DeMarcus, Rascal Flatts’ bassist and co-founder, was quick to credit the Eagles for providing a kind of “blueprint” for how to handle a comeback tour.
He highlighted the Eagles’ resilience, particularly in how they rebounded after the tragic death of their frontman, Glenn Frey , in 2016.
“I think the Eagles have done a really good job of going through different seasons and coming together for the good of the fans and the good of the music,” DeMarcus said.
The Eagles’ ability to adapt was crucial, especially when they brought in country star Vince Gilland Frey’s son, Deacon Frey, to share vocal duties.
It was a bold move, but one that allowed the band to keep the music alive while honoring Glenn’s legacy.
That decision helped bring the Eagles back on the road, showing that even after loss and change, great bands can continue to thrive.
Now, the Eagles are performing in their Las Vegas residencyat the stunning Sphere, where fans are being treated to not just their timeless hits, but a full visual and immersive experience.
DeMarcus mentioned how inspiring it was to see how the Eagles managed to stay relevant while still offering something new.
“That’s been really neat to see them navigate those tricky waters. They do it as well as anybody,” he added.
Rascal Flatts finds themselves in a similar situation as they prepare for their comeback tour.
They’ve had a long and storied career, with 13 No. 1 hitsunder their belt and countless fans worldwide. But just like the Eagles, the trio has faced their own challenges.
The band, which consists of Gary LeVox(lead vocals), Jay DeMarcus(bass), and Joe Don Rooney(guitar), had originally planned a farewell tour back in 2020, but those plans were derailed due to the pandemic.
Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to see what the future would hold for the group.
Now, after a five-year break where the members focused on their individual projects, they’re ready to hit the stage again.
What makes it even more exciting is that, according to the band, they hadn’t actually seen each other in person for five years until the tour announcement.
That makes this reunion even more special, as it represents a true coming together of old friends, not just bandmates.
One of the biggest challenges Rascal Flatts faces as they prepare for the tour is figuring out how to create the perfect setlist.
With a catalog full of fan favorites like “ Bless the Broken Road ,” “ What Hurts the Most,” “ My Wish,” and, of course, “ Life Is a Highway ,” narrowing it down to a couple of hours of music is going to be tough.
The band members admit that it’s going to take some serious planning to fit in all the songs that fans love.
DeMarcus joked, “We’ve got a lot of hits, which is a great problem to have, but we want to make sure we put together a show that really tells the story of our journey over these 25 years.”
For Rascal Flatts fans, this reunion has been a long time coming.
The trio was originally formed in 1999, and over the years, they’ve become one of the most successful and beloved groups in country music history.
Their smooth harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and genre-blending sound have earned them a permanent spot in the hearts of country music lovers everywhere.
The Life Is a Highway Tour is a chance for the band to celebrate their quarter-century together, and more importantly, to reconnect with the fans who have supported them every step of the way.
For fans who thought the 2020 farewell tour would be the last time they’d see Rascal Flatts on stage, this announcement is like a dream come true.
The Rascal Flatts reunion will likely have the emotional weight of seeing old friends back together and the energy of a celebration that’s been years in the making.
Fans can expect a nostalgic trip through the hits that made Rascal Flatts famous, but also some surprises along the way.
DeMarcus hinted that they’re thinking about incorporating a few different elements into the tour to keep it fresh and exciting, perhaps drawing inspiration from the Eagles’ Vegas residency.
Just as the Eagles have shown that it’s possible to adapt, evolve, and keep the music alive, Rascal Flatts is ready to continue writing their own story.
DeMarcus noted that much of the inspiration for this tour comes from a desire to honor their legacy and make sure the fans who’ve been with them for 25 years get the show they deserve.
“There’s something special about coming back after all this time and being able to do it for the love of the music and the fans. That’s really what this is all about,” DeMarcus shared.
So, as the 13th of February 2025 approaches, fans can look forward to an incredible reunion tour that’s been shaped, in part, by the wisdom of bands like the Eagles.
Rascal Flatts is ready to take the stage again, and this time, they’re bringing everything they’ve learned along the way.
