Ree Drummond , popularly known as “The Pioneer Woman,” recently celebrated 28 years of marriage with her husband, Ladd Drummond. In a heartfelt social media post, she shared a series of beautiful photos documenting their life together.
These images offer a glimpse into their love story, filled with travel, family moments, and ranch life. Their journey, which began almost three decades ago, is an inspiring tale of love, patience, and shared dreams.
Ree and Ladd’s love story began in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in the mid-1990s. Ree, who had been living in Los Angeles and was preparing to move to Chicago, made a pit stop in her hometown to visit family and friends.
One evening, she decided to meet up with childhood friends at a local bar, and that’s where fate brought her and Ladd together.
According to Ree, there was an “instant connection” between them, but their relationship didn’t take off right away. Despite their strong initial spark, Ladd didn’t call her for four months after their first meeting.
She later revealed in an interview with The Pioneer Woman magazine that she had no idea why he waited so long.
When Ladd finally reached out, Ree was back in town for her brother’s wedding. Their first official date went so smoothly that within just two weeks, Ladd told Ree he loved her.
From that point forward, their relationship moved quickly, and the couple eventually got married on September 21, 1996. Though their backgrounds were very different — Ree had dreams of a big-city life, while Ladd was a dedicated cattle rancher — they found common ground in their love for each other.

In a recent Instagram post celebrating their 28th anniversary, Ree shared some cherished memories from their years together. The slideshow featured photos from various points in their lives, starting with their wedding day.
The couple’s wedding photos, including one of them standing at the altar, captured the joy and excitement of their big day.
Over the years, the Drummonds have created many beautiful memories, both on their ranch and during their travels. In her post, Ree shared several vacation snapshots, showing the couple enjoying time together away from their ranching duties.
However, some of the sweetest photos in the collection were those taken at their home ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where they’ve raised their five children and built a life together.
In typical Ree fashion, she kept the tone of her caption light and humorous, writing,
“If you make it to the last photo, you’ll see a couple of people who are…OK, yes, slightly exhausted, but oh so grateful we found each other almost three decades ago.”
Reflecting on their 28 years together, she added,
“It has been a roller coaster, a journey, an odyssey, and a blast. Not to mention fast! How can it be our 28th anniversary when we’re only 32?”
Ree’s playful sense of humor shines through in this comment, showing the love and laughter that have been central to their marriage.
While Ree might have once dreamed of a big-city career, she and Ladd have spent the past 28 years building a life together on their ranch in Pawhuska. Ladd, known affectionately as “Marlboro Man” by Ree, is a fourth-generation cattle rancher.
Together, the couple has raised five children: Alex, Paige, Bryce, Jamar, and Todd. Their sprawling ranch, which covers over 400,000 acres, has been the backdrop for countless memories as their children grew up surrounded by the beauty of rural Oklahoma.
Despite their busy schedules — Ree with her Food Network show, The Pioneer Woman , and Ladd with his ranching duties — the couple has always made time for each other and their family. Ladd has made numerous appearances on Ree’s show, where fans love to see his calm, steady presence alongside her lively personality.
In recent years, the Drummonds have entered a new phase of life as their children have grown up. Their oldest daughter, Alex, got married in May 2021, and in an exciting new development, Alex is now expecting her first baby.
Ree and Ladd are thrilled about becoming grandparents, and they’re looking forward to this next chapter in their family’s story.
In another exciting family milestone, their second daughter, Paige, got engaged in August 2024. Ree has shared her excitement over both of her daughters’ life events on social media, and it’s clear that family continues to be at the center of everything the Drummonds do.
In her anniversary post, Ree paused to reflect on the highs and lows of her marriage with Ladd. Like any long-term relationship, their marriage hasn’t always been easy. Running a ranch, raising five children, and balancing their careers have undoubtedly brought challenges along the way.
However, Ree and Ladd have always approached life as a team, and their love and commitment to each other have helped them navigate the tough times.
Ree’s caption on her anniversary post encapsulates the blend of love, humor, and gratitude that defines their relationship.
“What if we hadn’t met?”she mused in the post.
It’s a thought that many married couples might have at some point, but for Ree, it’s clear that she can’t imagine her life without Ladd by her side.
For 28 years, Ree and Ladd have built a strong, loving partnership. From raising their children to managing the ranch and growing Ree’s food empire, they’ve worked together every step of the way.
And as they move into the next phase of life — becoming grandparents and watching their children build lives of their own — they continue to support each other with the same love and laughter that has been the foundation of their relationship.
Ree and Ladd’s 28-year journey together is a reminder that lasting love is built on shared dreams, mutual respect, and a lot of laughter.
