The music dignitary was born on 22nd June 1936 in a conservative military family in Brownsville, Texas.
He was the first of the three children and enrolled in multiple schools throughout his academic career as they continued to transfer to places.
He graduated from Pomona College, securing a scholarship to Oxford University, and hence moved to England to pursue a Masters degree in Literature.
It was during his time at college that he began to chase after his love for music and songs.
However, he failed to rise to fame at this initial stage as he performed for small labels and therefore, returned home after the fulfilment of his degree.
Giving up on further study plans, he joined the military following his father and subsequently became a ranger and a helicopter pilot.
In the following years, his career peaked and he was promoted to the rank of Captain and offered a teaching job at a military academy.
His passion for music, however, took the better of him this time as he declined the offer, resigned from the military, and set out on the journey to become a professional country musician , straining his relationship with his parents in the process.
The preliminary years of his music career saw him struggling through hard times as recording songs for less popular labels could not support his family, which included his then-wife and daughter and he had to do odd jobs to provide for them.
The rise in his career occurred when he wrote and sang the song, ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ enabling him to attain fame and the attention of the popular star, Johnny Cash.
More hit songs followed and his music career inevitably took off, enabling Kristofferson to secure several accolades and awards to his name.
Around the same time, Kristofferson tried his luck in the film industry and came out as incredibly fortunate when he starred in the renowned film, ‘ A Star Is Born ‘.
Over the decades, Kristofferson came to be known as a movie sensation, an accomplished songwriter, and a fabulous singer, one whose songs didn’t know the confines of any genre.

Kris Kristofferson’s music was nothing like the traditional kind.
He delved into the real essence of music and gave performances with his entire soul and heart, making his music one of a kind.
This is the reason Kristofferson’s music is not restricted to one particular theme but transcends beyond genres and thus, was able to touch the hearts of his followers.
He leaves behind a radiant legacy, teaching his successors to never restrict their inner artists in fear of fitting into a particular genre , instead allowing their spirits to flow freely and soar high with the music they produce.
Only then will they be able to bring out music that is unparalleled and matchless.
Kris Kristofferson owned a magnificent ranch since 1980. The property, situated just below the Devils Basin in Marcino County, California, spans a glorious 557 acres, facing the gorgeous Pacific Ocean.
The location later served as the shooting site for the iconic film, Karate Kid 3 .
The ranch is situated outside of Elk, almost a three-hour drive from San Francisco, and offers fantastic views of the wild waves of the Pacific Ocean.
Owing to his Texan roots, Kristofferson had leased out most of the expansive area for cattle grazing.
According to the music icon, the ranch was always a source of ‘creativity and inspiration’ for him.
At its inception in the 1800s, the ranch started as a dairy farm and even to this day, still includes some of the older structures, inclusive of the original roadhouse and barn.
Apart from the vacation house Kristofferson and his wife often inhabited, the property comprises a cool 1900-square-foot ranch house, a dairy barn, and a feed barn.
The vegetation surrounding the ranch is breathtaking, ranging from old-growth redwood to lime-colored fir trees.
The sweeping property also includes a huge 300 acres of open pasture coupled with an additional 250 acres of forestland.
Given the lucrative prospect of this magnanimous property, it can prove to be highly profitable for the next buyer.
