In a recent interview, Selena Gomez talked about her journey with mental illness, including how she deals with her lupus and bipolar disorder.
She also talked about how she felt while realizing she could not have children because of health problems.
Becoming vulnerable, self-compassion, and having relationships that back her were important to Gomez.
Additionally, she talked about how her work and personal situations show her dedication to promoting mental health.
Well-known singer and actress Selena Gomez recently talked about her mental health journey and how she has found calm through medicine and healthy ways to deal with things.
Gomez told Vanity Fair in an interview that came out on September 9, 2024, that she is now “ properly medicated ” for her mental health problems.
She has been open about how hard it is for her to deal with bipolar illness and lupus, which she was diagnosed with in 2015.
During an episode of Miley Cyrus’ Bright Minded Instagram Live show in April 2020, Gomez told the world that she has bipolar illness.
When asked about what helps her stay grounded when things get tough, the 32-year-old said several things.
One of these tools is using things that change the temperature, like cold water and space heaters, to calm down.
She also talked about how important it is to do mental exercises that help her stay in the present.
She said, “I remind myself that I am okay,” and she listed techniques like focusing on her surroundings and telling herself positive things like, “There is food.”
Before I leave, I can take a nap here. Gomez told the truth about how taking the right medicine has made a big difference in her mental health.
She said, “I am ready for everything; I am just now on the right medicine.” The singer also talked about how she had panic attacks, anxiety, and sadness in the past.
She made it clear that she does not want to be seen as a victim, even though she is having a hard time.
She thinks that being open about her problems is a sign of strength. I was called a victim by some people.
That makes me mad because one of the greatest things you can do is be open and sensitive.
Gomez made it clear that her mental health is much better now than it was before.
“It was really hard because my mind was not right and my chemicals were out of whack,” she said. But she does not want this story to control her life.
She says, “That story is not going to take over my life.” Every day, I am thankful. It is okay for me to have bad days, just like everyone else. I just made it through a lot.
Gomez has done more than just talk about her own life to raise awareness about mental health. She set up the Rare Impact Fund, whose main goal is to help young people with their mental health.
Also, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, a documentary she made in 2022, went into great detail about her mental health struggles and successes.
Gomez continues to inspire others to take charge of their mental health by being open and speaking out.
In her Vanity Fair interview, Selena Gomez talked about her issues with mental health and then revealed something very personal about her plans for her family.
Gomez talked about how her health problems, such as lupus and her journey with mental health, make it impossible for her to have children of her own.
The singer-actress talked about how hard it was to accept this truth: “I am sorry, but I can not carry my children.” There are a lot of health problems I have that could put my life and the baby’s in danger. I had to cry over that for a while.
Since she was diagnosed with lupus in 2015, Gomez has been open about how hard it is for her. It still affects her health.
As she thought about what was going on, she said that she had always imagined having a family the usual way, but now she knows that her path will be different.
She said , “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.” She also said that she feels much better now.
She said that she was thankful for options like surrogacy and adoption, which she sees as possible ways to become a mother.”
At the end of the day, I do not care,” Gomez said as she thought about her future. I will have it. “It will be my child.”
This shows how excited she is to become a mother, even though her journey will not be the typical one. It was also talked about how Gomez and her boyfriend, music artist Benny Blanco, are together.
Blanco has said that he wants to have children with her. They have been together since July 2023.
He told Howard Stern in a previous interview that having kids with Gomez is his “next goal” in life, which Gomez thought was funny. “I laughed so hard after the interview.” Is there anything else you would like to share?” she joked during the conversation.
Gomez also talked about how much Blanco has made her life better, calling him her best friend and a “light.” She said, “I have never been loved this way,” which showed how deeply they were connected.
Blanco has become a big part of Gomez’s life. She told him that she had been single for five years and that her family was her most important goal in life before she met him.
Gomez’s career is at a turning point right now, when she interviews with Vanity Fair. On September 6, 2024, Bloomberg said that her makeup line, Rare Beauty, as well as her singing, acting, and other businesses had made her a millionaire.
Even though her career is going well, Gomez made it clear that her relationships, especially her family and plans for having more children, are still her top concern.
