Music festivals play a vital role in society; they give a platform to new talent as well as musicians to show up their acts in one place.
On the other hand, festivals gather a large number of audiences, advertise music companies, and also celebrate culture. Music or other kinds of festivals provide nation to show unity and community empowerment.
Tortuga Music Festival is a three-day music event with some of the biggest names in country, rock, and roots music; it is held on the white sands of Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in a stunning oceanside environment.
By promoting marine conservation and concerns affecting the world’s oceans, Tortuga Fest joins together with Rock The Ocean to pair country, rock, and today’s top music with significance.
Let’s discover more information, what to expect, and features you might not want to miss about the annual event named Tortuga music festival. Let’s get started!
Annually, Rock the Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival takes place at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The event is generally held during the first week of April in the area.
The yearly Rock the Ocean festival was started with the intention of promoting ocean protection. Captain Robert Hamady and his wife Carlene, an in-flight administrator, founded the Tortuga Rum Company, Ltd. in 1984 when they were employed by Cayman Airways.
In order to appeal to the expanding tourist and ship passenger industries, they initially launched Cayman Islands rums. In addition to launching the now renowned Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cake at this time, they also launched the first Tortuga duty-free booze store in 1987.
Using a four-generation-old family recipe, Carlene has been making rum cakes for special occasions for years.
Through ticket sales and donations, the Tortuga Music Festival has given more than $3.2 million to its Conservation Village partners. The festival collaborates with the Rock the Ocean Foundation to increase public awareness of the issues affecting the world’s oceans and to fund scholarly research, educational initiatives, and ocean conservation projects.
The basis of the event, Conservation Village, invites more than 20 charity organizations to the festival to inform the audience about ocean conservation through participatory events like Eco barters, where actors trade beach rubbish for rewards, and virtual reality shark dives.
The festival offers live performances on numerous stages, with an emphasis on roots music, rock, and other genres of country music .
Zac Brown Band, Brett Eldredge, Eric Church, David Nail, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more artists have performed at the festival in the past. Recent superstars include Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain, and Eric Church.
The event always includes a section called Conservation Village. The section has active stalls with games, exhibitions, and displays that have as their main goals bringing attention to problems affecting the world’s oceans and promoting marine science and conservation.
The event also attempts to raise money for the preservation of ocean turtle territories along the Atlantic coast of South Florida. The Nature Conservancy, the University of Miami Marine Conservation Program, Nova South-Eastern University Oceanographic Center, the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program, and many more were past actors with the Conservation Village.
Guy Harvey, an artist who specializes in marine creatures, worked together with the Conservation Village’s Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation to promote ocean awareness.
