What is EMDR ?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic process which will clear troubling emotions and negative thinking linked to trauma and other painful past experiences. Patients have said  EMDR helped them more in one session than other therapies had in years.

 Virtual EMDR

Because of Covid-19 and social distancing, having an online option of EMDR offers an opportunity to explore this process at home. Virtual EMDR is just as effective as in-person EMDR. The process is identical. I will be there with you, guiding the entire process. What is important is that you have a good internet connection, privacy, and a comfortable chair to sit in.

How EMDR works?

As the session begins, you will be aware of the feelings and thoughts connected to the memory while simultaneously making these rapid eye movements.

As the process proceeds, your perception of the traumatic memory will begin to change. It will begin to give you a feeling of closure, with an decrease in the emotional content or intensity. Or the memory may fade. Regardless of how EMDR proceeds, the unpleasant feelings and negative thinking fade and are replaced by more positive feelings and thoughts.

When the process is completed you will remember the event. Understand and know that it happened but you will no longer be "haunted" by it.
