I am often asked by customers, how they should dress for photos. While there are no hard steadfast rules, here are a few suggestions you may want to consider.
DRESS LIKE ONE: From my experience, the best photos of couples are the ones where both halves are dressed as a whole. This does not mean giving up your individuality. Just try to coordinate colors. Dress in a theme. Do a test run of different clothes, to see what combinations work best together.
COLORS: Try to stick with solid colored shirts and pants if you can. Stripes, plaids and bold prints can be confusing. If you must have a pattern, try to keep it simple, so as not to distract the eye too much.
REGARDING SHOES: Shoes rarely display prominently in photos, unless you want them to. If your scheduled shoot requires foot travel, wear sneakers. You can pack your high heels and pull them out when needed for photos.
SLEEVES: Long sleeves are preferable to short sleeves, as bare arms can sometimes show up it ways you might not like. Similarly, bare shoulders or tops with spaghetti straps are not recommended, as they can sometimes make a subject look heavier and take away from the face.
