Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths of night
and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.





―　エイ、天の衣をもとむ　―

もし僕に刺繍した天の衣があれば
金と銀の光で織った、夜と昼のたそがれの、
青い、ほのかな、また、夜のいろの衣をもっていたら、
それを貴女の足下にひろげましょう。
でも貧しいので、僕には夢しかない。
だから、貴女の足下に僕の夢をひろげました、
そっと歩んでください、夢の上なんだから。
