I have prophesied in the Oomoto-kyo and in many other places. Some of them may have come true and some may have failed. Such things have already come to an end.
I had my life in those days as a vanguard for what is to come and for what I still think of today. But now the time has come, and the plan for the Kingdom of God has run aground, and a new plan is being made.

Deguchi Oninzaburo
(1871-1948)
The substantial founder of Oomoto-kyo, the doctrinal development of the Oomoto sect founded by Nao Deguchi in the Meiji era. It developed into one of the largest cults in prewar Japan, but its radical eschatology led to two rounds of government suppression, which nearly destroyed it.
The Oomoto sect produced such prominent figures as Shinyuki Akiyama, a naval strategist who played a leading role in the Russo-Japanese War, as well as Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido, and Masaharu Taniguchi, later founder of "Seicho no Ie".
