Dominican Republic

To see where I was, you'll have to look all the way to the East (right) side.

1. Airport . Sorry, did I say airport? I meant a little strip of land with what seems like the only pavement in this country for the runway, and a hut which serves as the terminal. Talk about culture shock for an 18 year old leaving Canada for the first time!
Of course, the terminal was made of not concrete or wood, but sticks and such, because it's so freaking hot there! I made the mistake of leaving Canada wearing a hoodie and jeans (it was -25C outside when I left). Got to the Dominican Republic and almost died of heat stroke upon arrival! That sure taught me a lesson for future trips.

2. Punta Cana . The resort area of Punta Cana is where me and my family stayed. What a beatiful place! Our hotel was right close to the beach, and were little 3 story apartment type of houses. There is so much I could talk about, but quite a bit I have already forgotten. Here are some highlights:

- The food there...wow. Fresh fruit like I had never and still have never had. And all you can eat! We were at an all inclusive resort, so we could eat all we wanted to. And boy, did I!

- All you can drink. Best rum I have ever had was there. I know, not much of a suprise. And of course, they won't ever tell you that you've had enough. 'Another rum and coke sir? Of course. You look like you're about 16...who cares? Have another drink!'

- At the edges of the resorts, where the resort land meets normal public areas, there are armed guards. Yes, the first time I have seen a semi-automatic weapon! Freaking scary as hell...I stayed as faaarrrrr away as I could from them.

- The Coke-A-Cola was in the mini glass bottles like you see in the movies from the 60's!

3. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere .
