A 99 years old male patient died Saturday morning. He had been admitted to our hospital about one year for the care of dementia. He had been fed by nasal tube as he couldn’t eat. He could speak sometimes. Once a time, he said he forgot how to die during the course of the disease. We couldn’t understand the real meaning, but we guess he was in weariness and wanted to die. Although he stayed alive one year by nasal tube nutrition since then. Whenever I visited him, I called him and greeted good morning. He answered almost every times, and the day before the death he also answered to me good morning. He died silently without suffering. I thought he welcomed his death with satisfaction.
