アトピー性皮膚炎の患者さんは１６０万人以上いると推測されている。彼らは慢性の
痒みに苦しめられている。激しい痒みに耐えられず、しばしば激しく掻く結果、彼ら
の皮膚はみじめな状況になってしまう。
九州大学の研究グループはアトピー性皮膚炎モデルのマウスを使って痒みの原因を明
らかにした。その研究は今月のネイチャーに報告された。彼らはアストログリオージ
ス（星状細胞が増えること）はSTAT3というタンパク質に依存し、脊髄の後角にある
星状細胞が活性化していると皮膚は傷み,痒くなることを見出した。
それは脊髄のSTAT3を抑制することによって、慢性の激しい痒みを和らげることがで
きることを意味する。

Atopic dermatitis patients is guessed as over 1.60 million in Japan. They
are suffered by chronic itch.
By the unbearable itch, they scratch often and deeply , and their skin
become miserable.
The researchers of Kyushu University found the origin of itching using
mouse models of atopic dermatitis. It was reported on Nature July ,2015.
They found that reactive astrogliosis depended on the activation of the
STAT3, and the
reactive state of astrocytes in the dorsal horn of the spinal segments
corresponded to lesioned, itchy skin.
It means we can ameliorate the chronic severe itch to inhibit the spinal
STAT3.
