カナダのパトリックチャン選手（２５）がフィギアスケートの４大陸選手権で優勝し
た。ショートプログラムでは５位だったがフリーで２００点超えを出し逆転優勝し
た。不調で１年休養した後の快挙でうれしそうだった。若い選手が次々に台頭し、ベ
テランの影はだんだん薄くなっていくが、彼がベテランここにありを示してくれたの
は心強い。日本の浅田真央選手も同じように休養したベテランである。ベテランだっ
てやればできるのである。３月の世界選手権には浅田真央選手も出場する。若い選手
にも頑張ってもらいたいが、ベテランだってなりふり構わず頑張ればできるというこ
とを示してもらいたいと思う。

Canada's Patrick CHAN players (25) won in the four continents Figure Skating
Championships. He was fifth in the short program but got over 200 points in
the free program and won. He was very happy after the one year rest in his
slump. Young players are emerging one after another, veteran shadows become
more thin, but he showed here glory of veteran, it encourage us. Mao Asada
of Japan is also veteran and rested one year in slump. You can do it even
veteran. Mao Asada is scheduled to compete in the World Championships in
March.
Although I hope young players to do their best also, but I hope her most to
show the evidence that even veteran will win if she challenge like a dog.
