草木萌動（そうもくめばえいずる）
草木が萌え出す頃となった。万葉の時代から早春の歌として詠まれ、古くから大切にされてきた風習が春菜摘みである。桃の節句（ひな祭り）が迫り、ひな祭り用の桃の花や、鮮やかな黄色い菜の花などが山野にあふれる。It’s time for the plants to sprout. 休校の子供たちに見て欲しい映画
「この世界の片隅に」は原爆投下に至る広島を舞台に市井の人びとの日常を描いたアニメ映画である。日本人のリアルと重なるすずの生き方と共に、戦争の愚かさ悲しさ、そしてまた一から立ち直って前向きに生きていこうとする姿勢の大切さを、このアニメ映画を通して是非とも日本の子供たちに観て欲しいと思う。The film "KONO SEKAI-no KATASUMINI" is an animated film having depicted the everyday lives of the ordinary people on the stage of Hiroshima, where the atomic bomb was dropped. 霞始靆（かすみはじめてたなびく）
春霞がたなびき始める頃となった。春になると、冬の乾いた空気に比べて大気中に細かな水滴や塵が増え、遠くの景色がぼんやりとかすんで見えることがあるが、こうした現象を「霞」と呼ぶ。柔らかくほのかにかすんで見える山々は、のどかで春らしい風景である。It’s time when the spring haze begins to flutter. In the spring, fine water droplets and dust increase in the air compared to the dry air in winter, and the distant scenery may look blurry and hazy. Such a phenomenon is a spring haze, what Japanese call "kasumi". 土脉潤起（つちのしょううるおいおこる）
あたたかな雨に大地が潤い活気づく頃となった。降っていた雪がしっとりとした春の雨に変わり、凍てついた大地もゆっくりと潤い始める。忍び寄る春の気配に眠っていた植物が芽吹き始める季節である。It’s time when the earth is moistened and warmed by the warm rain. The falling snow turns into moist spring rain, and the frozen land slowly begins to moisten. 魚上氷（うおこおりをいずる）
魚たちが暖かさを感じ、割れた氷の下から魚が跳びはねる頃となった。寒い冬、魚たちは池や湖、海などの深場でじっとうずくまり、代謝を下げて春を待っている。やがて吹く風が柔らかくなり、温かくなった水の中には、ゆらゆら泳ぐ魚の姿が見え始める。It’s time for the fish to feel warm and to jump through the broken ice. In the cold winter, the fish crouch in deep places such as ponds, lakes, and the sea, lowering their metabolism and waiting for spring. 生まれて初めて選挙に参加して、地方議会が腐敗して機能していないことが、日本沈没の本当の原因であることがよくわかってきた。議員たちと町長と町の幹部職員がお友達会として町の議会を乗っ取って、力の強いほんの一握りの利権者たちの都合に沿って行政を動かしている実態がよく見えてきた。Participating in the election of our regional council for the first time in my birth, it has become clear that the corrupt ineffectiveness of the local council is the real cause of sinking Japan. The members of the local council, the mayor, and the executive town officials have been hijacking the local council as if the brotherhood parties were assembled. 黄鶯睍睆（うぐいすなく）
山里では鶯（ウグイス）が鳴き始める頃となった。梅と鶯のツーショットは、伝統的な日本の遊びである花札の絵によって、日本人の脳裏に刻まれているのではないだろうか。春を告げる梅の花に鶯がとまっている光景は、非常に風流な日本の眺めである。In a village at the foot of a mountain valley, it’s time when the bush warbler starts to sing. 東風解凍（とうふうこおりをとく）
暖かい春風が川や湖の氷を解かし始める頃となった。周期的な低気圧の通過により、春の兆しとなる暖かい春の風が吹き始める。朝晩の冷え込みは真冬並みであるが、この頃から日中の日差しで家の中ではホッとする暖かさとなる。It’s time when the warm spring breeze begins to thaw ice on rivers and lakes.
