図書館を応援する会の会長交代 Change of Chairman of the Supporters of the Library

2020年12月の月報です。COVID-19で来館者は少なく、年間の来館者は昨年の半分でした。本の貸出しだけをしています。日本の支援者からの寄付金で、ナイロビのオンラインショップで買った29冊が図書館に届きました。This is the monthly report for December 2020. Due to COVID-19, few visitors, annual visitors in 202o were half of those in 2019. The Library is lending books in this month, too. They received 29 books sent from Japanese supporters via Text Book Center at Nairobi.

2019年の図書館報告 Library Report for 2019
2019年の図書館の報告です。入館者数と蔵書数は下図です。 2019年の年間入館者数は、8,022人(15歳未満4,216人、15歳以上3,806人）で、2001年の開館以来の累計入館者数は、131,885人になりました。2018年の5,979人（それぞれ2,543人、3,436人）に比較し、2019年は、約2千人（34％）と大幅に増加しました。 今年は410冊の新本が蔵書に加わり、合計蔵書は6,394冊になりました。 貸出しは、大人（19歳以上）と学生（18歳以下）それぞれ780冊と1,037冊で合計1,817冊でした。昨年のそれぞれ968冊、2,370冊、3,338冊に比較し減少でした。 This is the report of the Library activity in 2019. The no. of visitors and books of the Library are shown in the Figures below. The number of the visitors in 2019 is 8,022 (4,216 of 14 years old and younger, and 3,806 of 15 years old and older). The accumulated number of the visitors is 131,885 since the opening of the Library in 2001. Comparing with those in 2018 of 5,979 (2,543 and 3,436), respectively, those in 2019 increased much by about 2,000 at 34%. The books in the Library is 6,394 after added 410 new books in 2019. The number of the lending books in 2019 is 780 to the adult, 1,037 to the students of 18 years and younger and 1,817 in total. Those are decreased from those 968, 2,370 and 3,338, respectively in 2018.

ヘラ婦人会から年末の挨拶とご支援へのお礼状が来ました。来年も皆さまの図書館へのご支援よろしくお願いいたします。The Hera Women Group send the following season's greeting and expressed their thanks for your supports to the Library. CHAIRPERSON’S END YEAR MESSAGE First and foremost, let me take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for protecting us throughout the year. Let me also thank our Supporters and donors who have walked with us this journey from on start to date. (i.e. financially and materially ) only to mention a few Moran Publishers ,Ms Anne Mc Clelland , Ms Wakatabe, Mr. Mike Durrant ,Mr. Samejima ,Mr. Okamura our able father and founder Mr. Shisei Sakoda , KenGen among others. 図画教室 Drawing Workshop（2019/8/8）
恒例の図画教室を図書館で開きました。参加した子供達や婦人会の感想の報告です。Hera Women Group held Drawing Workshop. The impression of the children and Hera Women Group are reported below.Twenty eight (28) children participated in the drawing workshop. There were six (6) girls and twenty (12) boys from 10years to 15 years of age.Subjects of drawing were free choice from the books you had brought. The children identified what they wanted to draw with the guidance of the teacher.The teacher showed the children how to write letters well and instructed them on what they should do. He monitored every participant and showed them the right direction.The children were very happy and promised to come again next year.Group members were as well very happy and encouraged the children to participate every year as long as they are still in primary school. We shall make sure to correct areas not well done.We can identify the best who can participate in the National Drawing Contest. The workshop started at 10:00am and ended at 5:00pm.

2001年6月創立の図書館の創立記念祝賀会の報告です。記念日の前日には、村々を回る図書館PRキャンペーンをしました。祝賀会の報告と写真です。This is the report and photos of the 18th Anniversary of the Library established in 2001.The 18TH Anniversary Report ofthe LibraryBook FairWe started the book fair (road show) on22nd June, 2019from 12.00 noon. We went round West Nyakach Division for about five hoursshowing our books and activities in the Library. ケニア図書館協会年次総会での発表 Presentation in the Kenya Library Association
昨年11月のキスムでのケニア図書館協会の年次総会での婦人会の発表原稿を紹介致します。The Chairlady and the Secretary of Hera Women Group attended in the annual conference of the Kenya Library Association held at Kisumu on November 21 to 23, 2018. They presented their activities of the Sondu/Miriu Library with their paper shown below. Their presentation was appreciated very much by the people joined the conference. The Swedish Library Association gave them two story books as a reward.

来館者と蔵書の2018年度報告 2018 Fiscal Report on Visitors and Books
2018年1-12月の図書館の来館者数、蔵書数、貸出し本数を下図に示しました。来館者数は平年並みで5,979人、(15歳以下2,543人、16歳以上3,436人でした。）蔵書数は344冊増え5,984冊でした。貸出し本数は平年並みの大人968冊 子供2,370合計3318冊でした。The figure below shows the number of visitors to the Lbrary in January - December, 2918, the number of books in the Library and borrowed books.The number of visitors was 5,979 of 2,543 consisting of under 15 years old and 3,436 over 16 years old. The number of books was increased by 344 books to 5,984 nos. The number of borrowed books was 968 by adults and 2,370 by children, 3,318 in total.

キスムの図書館協会年次総会の参加報告 Attendance Report of Annual Conference at Kisumu
ケニア図書館協会は11月21日~23日にキスムで年次総会を開催しました。ヘラ婦人会の会長と秘書がこの総会に出席し、婦人会の図書館活動を報告しました。次がその参加報告書です。The Kenya Library Association hold the Annual Conference at Kisumu on November 21 to 13, 2018. The Chairlady and the Secretary of Hera Women Group attended the Conference and presented their activities of the Sondu/Miriu Library. They reported their presentation as follows:The conference was so good for interaction and exchange of ideas.We got to learn how big libraries are run or managed e.g. National libraries from our country and outside the country that is to say International libraries in Kenya. It emerged that National libraries are run by highly learned librarians i.e. degree holders and above. We learn that for the better management of the library it requires some with good knowledge of library management or a fully trained person on library management. We'll try and improve on areas that we feel are not well done. On the presentation the attendance of the conference really appreciated the Hera WG for what they've done in running a local library. They encouraged the WG to continue with their good work and always be able to attend such conference. We were also told to apply to different donors for books like the Jomo Kenyatta Book Foundation. National Library can give training on payment. The presentation was so good that the people never expected us to give such a wonderful presentation while, the rest used projectors in their presentation. The Swedish library gave us two story books as a reward. In the Conference there were research presentations which help in improving some areas. On the last day of the conference, we all went for a tour at Kit Mikayi in Seme near Kisumu. Surprisingly the people we met were stakeholders of different positions who represented their departments e.g. lawyers, C.I.DS, Nacad Ombudsmen, etc. Attending the conference gave us a lot of Courage and Stamina during the interaction with different people. We are really grateful to all Supporters of the Library for their continued support to Hera Women Group.May God bless you all!
