Core　i7-4790 は、Hyper-Threading Technology に対応した 4 つの CPU コアを備えており、定格時の CPU クロックは 3.6GHz、Turbo Boost 動作時は 4.0GHz で動作する。これは従来の Haswell アーキテクチャ採用の Core i7 の最高クロック(3.5GHz/3.9GHz)を 100MHz 上回る。ワットパフォーマンスの向上によって生まれた余裕を生かして、CPU クロックを従来モデルより向上させた。

CPU に統合された GPU コアは「Intel HD Graphics 4600」で、GPU クロックは最大 1,200MHz に設定されている。その他、8MB の L3 キャッシュを備え、TDP は 84W、製造プロセスは 22nm を採用している。CPU の動作クロックが向上したことを除き、従来の Haswell アーキテクチャ CPU と目立った違いは見られない。
