0003.jpgyuki tyuusonnzi01.jpg

The Pacific offing Earthquake Please help japan!!

Because I wanted to borrow power of the who I wanted to save Japan, and lived in a thing of the world, I appealed to world in English. Though it is too ignominious English, please hear it. The Japanese sky leads to the world. The heart to love music is common throughout the world. I do not mind in Japan pampered by the world either. It is a heart to thank for to be important.

2.jpg

My mother looks delighted.
After all, there’s a young man sitting next to her—and it turns out he’s the same age as my younger brother.

And where my mother and the young man headed was... a nursing home!
Wait, no! It was the singing group my mother attends. She takes part every month in a gathering where everyone sings children's songs, traditional school songs, and old favorites.

It was my mother who asked that teacher to arrange it—
a mini-concert by Shintaro Kudo!

Mr. Katsuhiko Takenouchi, who heads this organization.

Once a month, a public venue in Hasuda City hosts an event where children's songs, traditional Japanese school songs, and nostalgic hits are introduced, providing an opportunity for everyone to sing together. It was at this venue that Shintaro held a mini-concert.

Shintaro is helping out with the event taking place on May 2nd of next year.
He performs songs by Momoe Yamaguchi, Hibari Misora, and Aki Yashiro with brilliant arrangements that make them feel entirely his own.

I was deeply moved to see the elderly folks singing along together.
There was great excitement as stories about Aki Yashiro were shared!
And the original songs were fantastic, too; they were captivating, even though I was hearing them for the first time.
It was a wonderful concert—a truly magnificent performance where the audience sang right along with the artist.

I once attended a gospel event where the singing voices filled the venue and deeply moved me. Here, at a public facility in Hasuda City, the voices of seniors—people with a wealth of life experience—filled the space just as the gospel singers had.
It was truly wonderful.
Deeply moved, I made a request to Shintaro, even though I wasn't sure he would agree.
Hitomi Ory is a fellow musician and a long-time friend; she performs as a jazz singer at various venues. Her events always feature jam sessions, and when I asked Shintaro if he would sing during one, he readily agreed.

I am going to see Hitomi perform live for the first time in a year. I had originally planned to go with an acquaintance.
I met this acquaintance at a gym in Hasuda City. There was a woman there who was quietly focused on her workout; I happened to be near her while stretching. I struck up a conversation, saying, "You have an incredible workout routine. Your focus is amazing, too."
After thanking me, she surprised me by asking, "You're [Daughter's Name]'s dad, aren't you?" It turned out she was the mother of one of my second daughter's friends; the girls had been in the same club activity together.
"Thank you for everything back then," I said, and we parted ways for the day. When I saw her again the next time, I asked, "Good to see you again! How are your daughter and husband doing?"
She told me that her husband had passed away from leukemia six months prior. She had moved house since then and was attending the gym to help shake off the loneliness.
There were morning glories that used to bloom every year at that time of season, but since she had moved, she could no longer see them. She mentioned that she had received the seeds from my daughter—[Daughter's Name]—and had been growing the flowers for about ten years.

My daughter's friend's mom mentioned she loved singing, so I invited her to a live show featuring some of my musical friends—and I invited Shintaro along, too.
When my mother found out Shintaro was going, she insisted, "I'm coming too!"
Then my father joined in as well. So, off we went to Hitomi's concert—a group that included the grandparents, a high school junior of mine, Shintaro, and my second daughter's friend's mom!
That mom even made her stage debut!

Shintaro performed two songs! He received thunderous applause!

It was a magnificent performance—one that almost overshadowed the star of the show.
Shintaro singing the second song; Hitomi listening close by.

My piano playing was a disaster. I hadn't practiced nearly enough.

That's Hitomi for you—creating an image like this...

Let me introduce Shintaro.
He won the "Newcomer Award" at the Japan Cable Awards for his 2006 debut song, "Chef."

Since then, he has worked on projects such as two Uniqlo commercial songs, the lyrics and music for the school anthem of Kawaguchi City High School and its affiliated junior high school (established in 2018), and the theme song for the movie *Shasen Henkou: Cupola wo Miagete*.
He is a singer-songwriter and a member of the 19th graduating class of Sakae Higashi High School; he is also scheduled to perform at the school's alumni gatherings and the "Wakatake" social events in 2025 and 2026.

 Shintaro Kudo Official Website

A commemorative concert marking the 20th anniversary of the artist's debut will be held on Saturday, October 24, at the Yamashin Sustain Hall (formerly the Music Hall; capacity: 550) within the Kawaguchi Comprehensive Cultural Center Lilia (hereinafter referred to as Kawaguchi Lilia).

On January 25, 2006—the day of his debut—the late Aki Yashiro and the late Mayor Okamura of Kawaguchi (who held office at the time) came to the event venue (in front of the West Exit of JR Kawaguchi Station) to show their support. Twenty years have passed since then.
To everyone who has come to know Shintaro Kudo through this blog: please do come and see him. Shintaro possesses a certain heart—a sincerity—that sets him apart from other musicians. I would love for you to experience that for yourselves.

 LILIA Kaweaguchi

I found a musician who plays with a passionate heart, just like Shintaro. I’m thinking of asking this person to perform.
In 2012, I returned to Saitama from Iwate and was working as the manager of a relaxation salon. In 2016, on one of my days off, I went to provide a treatment to a classmate of my younger sister. Here is the blog post from that time.

Her parents are on good terms with my own parents. She had read a book I published in 2009 about my work as a bodywork therapist at Tamagawa Onsen; when I returned to Saitama, she reached out and asked me to treat her.
She has been battling cancer since around the year 2000.
I used to ride my bicycle from my home in Hasuda City—where I lived at the time—to her home in Sashiogi, Saitama City, to provide treatments roughly once every two months.
She was a classmate of my younger sister. Her child entered high school with the goal of making a living as a trumpet player—and I hear that child has now become an accomplished trumpeter.
It suddenly occurred to me: what if we performed together—my fellow musicians and I?
She had certainly attended her son's recitals before. But had she ever seen him standing on stage as a professional musician among so many other musicians?
Her son had watched over his mother as she fought cancer since his early childhood; surely, if he were to perform for her from the stage now, it would convey an immeasurable amount of strength to her.
That is what gave me the idea to perform this piece.

The solo in the middle of the song is originally a keyboard improvisation. We are structuring this section so that the keyboard, trumpet, bass, and drums can all take turns improvising.
I don't know if they have any experience with improvisation, but let's have them take that risk!
It will surely be a valuable experience.
