In the mid-1990s, there was a popularanimethat caused various social phenomena. It's NOT aboutanimeI'm going to mention -but the singer who sang its theme songs. I happened to keep an old music magazine which included her interview because this magazine included an article about my favorite band: She was anxious that too many children and teenagers were being pessimistic about future by keeping on receiving that life is hard and suffering
. Once when she asked her acquaintance who was an elementary school pupil about dream for the future, the answer was to live happily at present instead of thinking of future dreams because people would extinct in 2000. She was shocked to hear that. there seemed to be very little hope offered to such pessimistic children and teens
. But she also said that she was recognized by people whom she didn't know because of her profession, so she didn't think that she would be blamed even if she declared that the future would be bright
.
In more than 10 years, thisanimehas been made into a series of movie. Has her concern been solved?
By the release of the latest volume, the pupil who didn't have a dream for the future must have already grown up to be an adult -at least a high-teen. I read there was a survey that two thirds of high school students regard themselves as failures. Many fans of this movie -there must be many people at my age
-have put on years. Today, there are full of news on media and everywhere that younger generation has become more and more passive in work, life, and even on love affairs. And more than thirty thousand people kill themselves every year.
Especially those people who are leading the society and growing the next generation -I cannot help suspecting that they were just spreading pessimism, especially among younger generation -or is pessimism the roots of trait?
