One of the people around me who has frequent opportunity to talk with international visitors told me recently:
He is going to explain if he gains the opportunity that Japanese tell people with cold not to give cold instead of showing affection to take care, he said. One more explanation: Early spring is a season of pollinosis, national affliction caused by wrong forestry policy in our country, and many people wear mask
-we would appreciate your understanding. -Me? I wear mask outside because I've had bronchial asthma after I caught a cold in January.
In our country, if we are asked the reason to wear mask in public, many people would answer that there is an unwritten law called manner to wear mask if you have sniffle, sneeze and cough, even when it's not from infectious disease
, such as allergy and air-pollution. Many people would also answer as preventive against cold
-This answer includes preventive against criticism for poor self-care in case they actually catch cold or influenza.
Cough etiquette Whatever... As is already known, influenzaepidemic is annual function. The problem is: there are people who go to work or school in spite of influenza, and spread of infection goes on and on
. I suppose that Japanese seldom take sick leave when they just have mild cold with no or slight fever, and besides, both cold and influenza are similar in symptoms. Little wonder that cold and flu are confused. Recently, several online columns were placed about legal responsibility in case you go to work or employers compel workers to come to work in spite of infectious diseases and diseases spread as a result
. If we obey the laws strictly, bodily injury, involuntary injury, violation of Industrial Safety and Health Act can be applied.
Unfortunately, there are inconsiderate people who meet friends and go to crowded places in spite of influenza. White-hat wannabes accuse such people as bio-terrorists. But I suppose that the purpose of those columns is to enlighten prevention of infectious disease, so if you value your own skin, you may as well refrain from acting pedantic and narrow-minded.
-We prevent influenza on the assumption of such case. Enough about that:
As is already shown by a survey, sleep deprivation is increasingly serious problem among general public in our country.
Sleep "deprivation" is the word! Many people cannot get enough sleep because of long work hours to earn daily living and not to be fired. Under such situation, people are susceptible to disease, since their condition is already not well
.
