I didn't consider situations in other countries in writing today's weblog, and at this late date, there is no need to say how global pollution of the ocean due to plastic trash is serious.
At the same time, Panjandrums gave out that they are obligating to charge for plastic supermarket and shopping bags from April 2020, repelling general public.
I suppose it's simply because we have to pay for both shopping bags and garbage bags , although at some supermarket chains, shoppers already have to pay for plastic bags.
There are online postings accusing that Panjandrums are clever when it comes to getting money away from general public .
As for me, it's already a custom to bring shopping bag when I go to supermarkets; at the nearest supermarket, shoppers get discount of two yen if they don't take plastic supermarket bags.
But I use plastic supermarket bags for garbage bags, like many other people.
When I run out of garbage bags at home and office, I don't bring shopping bag, and take plastic supermarket bags.
There can be concern about price gouging
I've read that at a company where they started to fine on workers late at work, some workers thought that they could settle their tardy with money, and the numbers of days late increased.
Is there no risk that similar thing is triggered by charging for plastic shopping bags?
Even so, I understand that it's urgent to reduce waste of plastic.
Thus, I'd like to place a proposal:
If they abolish consumption tax, general public would assent, accept and approve paying for plastic supermarket bags.
As long as I've witnessed at the nearest supermarket, male shoppers tend to bring shopping bags less than female and couple.
If they bring shopping bags, does it look family-oriented and unmanly and discredit them as men?
At supermarkets, convenience stores and various shops, I see notifications asking customers to ask when they don't need plastic bags.
Husband points out that they should ask customers to ask when they need plastic bags .
At some self-service cafe chains and convenience stores selling drink for take-away, if we bring tumbler, they discount.
Of course, I have a tumbler, and I buy take-out coffee only at those cafes and convenience stores.
Recently, when Husband was working late and had supper out, I bought main dish for supper at a local delicatessen.
So I wondered that why they don't discount if customers bring containers at those delicatessens and restaurants, too -and some places would be selling dishes by measure -but there could be hygienic problems.
Talking about waste of plastic, perfumed fabric softener contains microplastics called microbeads , I've read.
There are people who suffer from hypersensitivity caused by chemical perfume, and especially at school, it's already a serious problem.
Besides, just like toxic chemical substance and heavy metal, those microbeads bioaccumulate.
it means manufacturers must stop selling those softener and detergent with those chemical perfume immediately , which is nothing new.
But I haven't found softener and detergent for wool without chemical perfume at store
I don't use softener, but I need detergent for wool.
