元ファミリーのロジャー・チャップマンが音楽活動からの引退を発表！
約40年にわたりブリティッシュ・ロック・シーンで活躍してきた元ファミリー～ストリートウォーカーズなどのヴォーカリスト、ロジャー・チャップマン（Roger Chapman）が引退を発表しました。ロッド・スチュワートやボニー・タイラー、ジョー・コッカーなどを上回るハスキーヴォイスで多くのファンを魅了してきたロジャーですが、このほど自身の公式サイトで、12月18日および19日に行なわれる英レスターでのプレ・クリスマス・ギグを最後に引退することを表明しました。今年で67歳を迎えたロジャーは、エイジアのジョン・ウェットンらを輩出したファミリーや、ストリートウォーカーズのリーダーとして活躍。ロジャーの名演といえば、やはりこれでしょう。Shadow on the wall 2005

Murder The Giles Brothers are famous for being founders of the band Giles Giles and Fripp, which eventually metamorphosed into King Crimson, one of the giants of Progressive rock. Mike Giles would be a founder of King Crimson along with Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald and Greg Lake. Peter Giles would also join King Crimson briefly in 1970.The recordings on this album however come from a period when the Giles brothers were members of a number of pure pop, R n B and soul influenced bands. Whilst the material is quite unlike anything the Giles brothers were subsequently involved in these recordings are of a historic nature and as individual singles all the tracks are incredibly collectable. All the tracks come from the personal archives of Peter and Mike Giles and as such are an interesting look into a period of time during the Giles brother's careers that has previously been less than well documented. The recordings have all been re mastered for this release giving them the best possible quality and this release is the first release that gathers together all of these historic performances on one disc.クリムゾン加入前に演奏した音源が収められるようですね。

ウェットン・ダウンズ作の名曲の一つ「To Catch a Thief」。「ルビコン」収録のロックヴァージョンではなく、ヴォーカル中心のアコースティックヴァージョン。ジョン・ウェットンとデュエットしているAnneke van Giersbergenのソロアルバム「Pure Air」に収録されています。To Catch a Thiefこれはこれで大人の雰囲気漂うアレンジですね。

ジェネシスのライブボックスセット（続報）
イギリスのプログレッシブ・ロック・バンド、ジェネシスのキャリアを総括するライブ音源のボックスセットが９月14日に英国でリリースされることは既報ですが、「ママツアー」の映像も含まれるようです。すべてのＤＶＤは5.1 DTS/DDオーディオフォーマットになるようです。以下、既報内容。タイトルは「Live Box Set, 1973-2007」で、初期のライブショーを収めた「Live」、ハケットとブルフォード在籍時の「Seconds Out」、フィル節全開の「Three Sides Live」と全盛期の「The Way We Walk」、２年前のリユニオンツアーを収めた「Live Over Europe」、そして「Live At The Rainbow 1973」がボーナスとして収録されます。国内盤情報は未定ですが、リリースされることは確実でしょう。

キング・クリムゾンの３作品がＤＶＤ－Ａで再発へ
キング・クリムゾンのデビュー40周年（すごい！）を記念して、「宮殿」「リザード」「レッド」の３作品がＤＶＤオーディオで再発されます。すべて5.1リミックスが施され、ライブ映像などのボーナストラック付です。第１弾は、ロバート・フリップ、ジョン・ウェットン、ビル・ブラッフォードの３人で制作された、1974年発表の「レッド（Red）」。ＣＤにはオリジナル収録の５曲に加え、「レッド」「堕落天使（Fallen Angel）」のトリオ・ヴァージョンと、「神の導き（Providence）」のフル・ヴァージョンを収録。またＤＶＤオーディオには、ロバート・フリップ監督のもと、ポーキュパイン・ツリーのスティーヴン・ウィルソンがミックスダウンを手がけた５・１サラウンドサウンドと、Hi-Res Stereoが収録。ＤＶＤオーディオにはまた、ＣＤに追加される３曲のほか、「Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos」がボーナス・トラックとして収録。さらに映像コンテンツとして、1974年に撮影されたフランスのテレビ番組でのパフォーマンス（戦慄２、夜警、人々の嘆き、暗黒）も収められます。発売は英国にて9月21日予定。 引き続き、10月12日には「宮殿」（In the Court of the Crimson King）が、10月26日には「リザード（Lizard）」が同じ仕様でそれぞれリリースされる予定。以下、ＤＧＭより。Forty years ago this month King Crimson went onstage at Hyde Park London as part of a bill topped by The Rolling Stones. The concert propelled the band from being the “hottest new band in London” to “hottest new band in the UK” overnight. This status was confirmed when their classic debut album In the Court of the Crimson King achieved a UK Top 5 chart placing upon release in October that year. Such chart success was quickly replicated elsewhere with the record entering the US top 30 and replacing The Beatles’ Abbey Road at the top of the Japanese International Artist chart by the end of the year. To celebrate 40 years of the Crimson Kings, DGM & Panegyric proudly announce the release of a series of CD/DVD-A editions of the original King Crimson studio albums. ウェットン・ダウンズのＤＶＤ
ｉＣＯＮのジョン・ウェットンとジェフ・ダウンズが、２月21日にロンドンのSt Mary-Le-Bow Churchで行ったライブのＣＤ＆ＤＶＤが「URBAN PSALM」というタイトルで年内にリリースされそうです。２人は今行っているエイジアの全米ツアーが終了次第、編集作業に入るそうです。また２人は８月に開かれるShrewsbury festivalへの参加が決まりました。

ソフト・マシーンの初期作２タイトルがリマスター盤化
カンタベリー音楽の原点ともいえるソフト・マシーン（The Soft Machine）の初期作２タイトルがリマスター盤として再発されます。対象となるのは、デビュー作の「ソフト・マシーン」（1968年）と、２作目の「ヴォリューム２（Volume Two）」の２作品。イギリスのPolydorによる企画で、最新リマスターでのリリースとなるそうです。デビュー作には、バンドの１stシングル「Love Makes Sweet Music」と、同シングルのB面曲「Feelin' Reelin' Squeelin'」の２曲がボーナス・トラックとして追加されます。発売はイギリスで７月20日の予定。「（The Soft Machine」（1968年）1. ７月２日、オール・フォー・オリジナル・メンバーズ・オブ・エイジアによるサンフランシスコでの「宮殿」です。こちらはハウのソロタイムです。「マスカレード～クラップ」の流れ（別角度からの映像）が、いいですねえ。マスカレードはエイジア時代に作られた曲ですが、ウェットンが歌詞を付けられずボツになった曲のようですね。

The Mincer Returns（キング・クリムゾンの新規ライブ音源がリリース）
キング・クリムゾンのファンにもっとも人気がある1972～1974年のライブ音源がＤＧＭからリリースされました。「暗黒の世界」に収録されたミンサーが演奏された時のフルライブ音源のようです。ライナーノーツを書いているのはデヴィッド・クロス。73年11月15日の音源なのですが、一部は「The Great Deceiver box set」に収録されていますが、フルで発売されたのは今回が初めて。音源の一部はブートレッグから抜粋したとのこと。
