The book I have been reading is "The Shockwave--countdown to Hiroshima." This was written by an English man.
I have read several books about World War 2 since this August. The beginning of the interests for the war was VJ Day in England. I wonder if some of you would have any ideas what "VJ" means... VJ is "victory over Japan." Here in England, they still celebrate the victory of the war even after 60 years. That fact shocked me. Do they not even imagine how Japanese in UK feel about it?
After that, I decided to tell the facts about the a-bombs to English people. That is the reason why I started reading about the war...
After reading several books, I got tired of the war stories. Those dark wartime stories made me sick. --I can imagine how bad the reality was, since only books could exhaust me...----I don't want to read any war books any more...
This book "The shockwave" would be the last book to read for some time. But this was not the right book to finish my reading. This book shows mostly American attitudes during the war. This tells their excitement of inventing and dropping the world first atom bomb! Although the bomb could have a possibility to destroy the whole planet, and they knew the bomb would be dropped over the cities many people live, they were unbelievably excited about the bomb.
Now I am half way through. But I am having a really hard time to keep reading this. This book made me feel so bad and scared me. I can not believe human could be so cold-blooded.
My husband said it would be the "nature of war." Probably it is. I could not help wishing that mentally normal persons could not be like this.....
