(japanknowledge.com) 練習」と「稽古」はかなり近い語のようだが、「稽古」の方がやや古めかしい言い方で、芸事や習い事、日本古来の武術などに用いられることが多い。茶道や華道、相撲や剣道、柔道などは「稽古」の方がしっくりくる。相撲の場合、「突き押しの練習をする」「投げ技の練習をする」と言えなくもないが、やはり相撲の技では「稽古」の方が適切であろう。
