The wise man knows the Self,
And he plays the game of life.
But the fool lives in the world
Like a beast of burden.
智慧ある人は真我を知って、
人生というゲームを楽しむ。
だが愚か者は、重荷を背負うロバのようにこの世を生きる。

Even in that exalted state
Which Indra and all the gods
Unhappily long for.
真の探求者は、インドラや神々にさえ手の届かない崇高な境地にあっても得意がることはない。

He understands the nature of things.
His heart is not smudged
By right or wrong,
As the sky is not smudged by smoke.
彼は物事の本性を知っている。
彼のハートは正邪の区別に汚されない、

He is pure of heart,
He knows the whole world is only the Self.
So who can stop him
From doing as he wishes?
彼は世界がただ真我であることを知っている。
だから、彼が望み通りにすることを誰が止められようか？

Of the four kinds of being,
From Brahma to a blade of grass,
Only the wise man is strong enough
To give up desire and aversion.
How rare he is!
ブラフマー神から草の葉にいたる4種類の生き物の中でも、ただ賢者だけが欲望と嫌悪を棄て去る力をもっている。
何と彼は希有な存在だろう！

Knowing he is the Self,
He acts accordingly
And is never fearful.
For he knows he is the Self,
One without two,
The Lord of all creation.
自分が真我であることを知り、
物事が起こるにまかせて行為する、
そして決して恐れを知らない。
彼は、自分が二のない、一なるもの、
全創造物の主である真我だと知っているのだ。
