A while ago, my brother in row took me a trip to Izu on a day off. We had no plan for this trip, but that might be good once in a while.
On the way to Izu, we took a break at rest stop called "Joren fall." I didn't know that fall but it was more impressive than I expected.
There was a stone monument that a line from a Japanese famous song, "Amagi Goe" was inscribed. Wasabi (Japanese horse-radish) was grown and grilled ayu (Japanese trout) was sold around the fall. I guessed the water from the fall must be clear.
Going over Amagi mountain pass (yes, this is "Amagi Goe"), we reached Shuzenji temple. We soaked in Shuzenji spa, and saw legendary "Tokko's spa."
and it is now a foot spa.
After enjoying the spa, we tried local food, "Wasabi don." We were asked to grate wasabi with a shark skin grater. After that, a bowl of rice topped with bonito shavings was served. Wasabi don was completed by putting grated wasabi and soy source on the rice. At first, wasabi effected to my nose strongly, but it smelled nice of fresh wasabi after I got used to the pungent taste. Simple, but not bad. Imagine Sushi without topping and vinegar. That is wasabi don.
We drove on and eventually, we went to "Ryugu cave." That was amazing. There was an opening on a rock by the sea and sea water is flowing into the hole. Entering into the cave, we saw a fantastic space surrounded by geological layers.
Furthermore, looking down this cave from above, we can find a heart shape in it.
This should be a good place for lovers. Despite this, it was not crowded even on Saturday afternoon. Only one family group and one couple were there. This should be the best-kept secret, because it's a cave!(ここは穴場ですね。洞窟だけに!)
