On the 15th (16th in Japan time), Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani started as the leadoff hitter and designated hitter in the home game against the Athletics, and showed off his first two home runs in one game this season. In the third inning, he hit his 14th three-run homer, his second consecutive game, and in the fourth inning, he hit his 15th two-run homer over center field. With two hits in five at-bats and six RBIs, he raised his batting average to .310. The team won 19-2.

He went wild on Bobblehead Day. With one out and runners on first and second in the third inning, he hit his 14th three-run homer to left-center field, and with one out and a runner on first in the fourth inning, he hit his 15th two-run homer to the left of the back screen. This is his 20th career two homers in one game and two consecutive at-bats since achieving "50 home runs and 50 stolen bases (50-50)" in an away game against the Marlins on September 19th (20th in Japan time) last year.

In the home run race, he tied with Kyle Schwarber (Phillies) for the league lead, and also tied with Aaron Judge (Yankees) in both leagues. He hit eight home runs in 13 games in May and is on pace for a career-high 55 home runs.
