色々な旅行へ出かけたが旅行といえば直ぐお土産が頭に浮かぶのは古い時代のせいであろうか？中でも中国へは何回か行ったがその都度「ガイド」にゴミを買わないように注意を受けた覚えがある。しかし、懲りもせず、つい買い込んで「安物買いの銭失い」の例えを繰り返した．【秋の中国・大連・天津クルーズ】ではそれを肝に銘じていたが、、その観光の際に「大連自然博物館」の展示室で、総紫檀の飾り棚に目を奪われた。中には中国独特の雰囲気を漂わせる１０点余りの玉石の香炉、金魚文様の飾り物、ヒスイの数頭の馬の置物＆花器等が陳列されていた。思わず足を止めたもんきー夫妻に、すかさず館員と思われる女性が数名寄ってきて「･･･これ売るよ･･」「いくら？」展示品でもあり、内心１0０万は下らない？と、考えた。ところが、閉館するので「それ、日本円で85万円、こっちの方は６５万円です。」安い！我が家にも紫檀の座敷机や花梨の飾り棚等、揃えているので、凡その値段は検討がつく。それに、何度も台湾へ通った経験者でもある。値切って！記念の土産にしょうと、考えた。「･･･５０万？」「う～ん････」止めた！
