Donation to Hikone City to support activities of JCMU MSU Alumni Club of Japan has been helping JCMU (The Japan Center for Michigan Universities) since 2014 through the donation to Hikone City where JCMU locates. April 8, 2017MSU Alumni Club of Japan Annual MeetingThe March Madness was over very short for Spartans this year. After the shocking upset loss to Middle Tennessee State last year, Spartans struggled with both football and basketball, and we need to rebuild stronger team for next season but our Spartans spirits will be rejuvenated again here in Japan at our annual meeting.MSU Alumni Club of Japan invites all the Spartan members and friends to attend our annual meeting scheduled on May 21 (Sun). Please bring your family, friends, and prospective students with you as usual to enjoy conversations with many other Spartans. This year, we found an exciting location to have our annual meeting: Haneda Airport Galaxy Hall!!We were planning to have MSU President Simon to join our annual meeting on her way back to East Lansing from Hong Kong where “Engage: International Alumni Reunion 2017” is scheduled to be held from May 19 to 21. Therefore, Haneda Airport is the perfect location for her. However, unfortunately, she needs to return to East Lansing to attend the Board meeting on 22nd, which made President Simon’s attendance not possible. Despite her absence, we still have an exciting location to have the annual meeting welcoming Business School students accompanied by Dr. Sarah Singer. They will begin their tour in the Kansai Area from May 10, and they will move to Tokyo on May 18. Meeting with overseas alumni is an exciting and informative event for the students, and highly valued by both MSU faculty members and students to confirm the global network of Spartans. As the tradition of our Club meeting, you can enjoy a buffet style lunch with Spartan Athletics video. This will truly give you the Spartan Spirit. Go Green!! Please bring your family, friends, and prospective students with you to enjoy conversations with many other Spartans. We have to apologize to members that the annual meeting was moved to September, which was normally held in June. Even though we tried to meet various schedules of guests from MSU, our planned schedule in June for annual meeting eventually could not match to schedules of guests. In addition to the above schedule mismatching, almost a regular member of our Club meeting, Dr. Anthony Ross of the Business School has moved to University of Wisconsin, Madison. We selected a newly opened Chinese Restaurant, ‘Kurawan” at Shibaura in Tokyo as a place for our annual meeting this year by the recommendation from Mr. Furuichi, our active board member who is in charge of the arrangement of annual meeting. It has become a very popular restaurant, and you will enjoy the atmosphere there. Of course, another Spartans’ great performance at BigTen football last year would be the most and terrific topic for all of us. We are sorry to announce that our active board member, Mr. Bill Marklevits suddenly passed away in March when he was in Indianapolis to report NCAA tournament. His contributions to our previous annual meetings such as sales of MSU T-shirts and goods, providing Football and Basketball Videos made our meeting fun. The rest of board members are trying to succeed his part by promoting Spartan spirits, thus to celebrate Spartan football’s great performance, exciting DVD of great games will be prepared for everyone. A buffet style lunch meeting with Spartan Athletics is the tradition of our Club. This will truly give you the Spartan Spirit.Enclosed is a Japan Post Bank money transfer request form to be used for the payment of the Club’s annual membership fee of 3,000 yen.
