Andy lost the first set 6-2, getting broken twice by Roger Federer. Andy only managed to get one point against Roger serve in the whole of the first set.
In the second set Andy came back and started well getting a break of serve but unfortunately couldn't hold it and the set went to a tie break which unfortunately the defending champion won taking the set 7-6.
Andy ran out of gas in the final, losing to Federer in straight sets 6-2 7-6(2) 6-4, the lack of extra day rest obviously affecting his play. This is Federer's third straight Wimbledon title.
