We went to see a Korean dog show in Daegu's EXCO for the first time on Sunday. My Korean friend and a collie breeder told me about it. The size of the dog show was about 1 third compared to Japanese dog shows. Unlike Japan, Korea does not have its own Collie Club, so collies and shelties must compete with other dogs, too. For the first time, I found out that my Korean friend and collie breeder was the only collie breeder in Korea. It was a big surprise! He introduced us to many sheltie breeders who were his friends. One of them owned Tennessee's brother dog. The dog resembled Tennessee alot. I managed to keep myself away from the shelties from kidnapping one, because they were just so adorable and loving. Because of the housing situations in Korea, many prefer shelties as pets. I was so happy to hear this because sheltie boom is over in Japan and the popularity is also going down. But overall, the dog shows in Korea needs to level up in not only the techniques of handling abut grooming as well. My friend said in the few years, they will make KCC(Korean Collie Club). Then there are possibilities of Korea and Japan, having an international collies and shelties only dog shows in the near future.
※Because I took these pictures on my cellphone, they are small. I'm sorry if it's too small to see.(Digital camera arrived after the dogshow in Daegu) Picture1: Grooming before the show
