昨日の午後、二人で隣町にある「牛久大仏」に行ってきました。
ここは地元の友人達に以前から「一度は行っておいでよ」と言われていた場所で、自宅からも車で30分くらいなので軽いドライブを兼ねて
行ってきました。
しかし、でかかった！以前から、いわきに向けて高速に乗るたびに
遠くから見えていたけど...でかかった！
ちなみにこの大仏様、立っている大仏様としては世界一の高さを
誇るらしく、ギネスブックにも登録されているそうです。
大仏様の胸あたりまでエレベーターで上がれたのですが、もちろん
快晴ということもあり見渡しは最高！

もありました。
ここは普段は入園料を取るそうですが、地元の友人に昨夜聞いたところ
お正月は無料開放されるとか。
一度くらいは見に行く価値のある近場の観光スポットでした。
ところで昨日、地震がありました。
たまたま私達は駐車場を出る時にあったのですが...
震度４レベルになると動いている車もけっこう激しく揺れるんですね。
かなりの時間、車が揺れていて二人とも固まってしまいました。
怖かった～（涙）

Yesterday afternoon, we went to see the "Standing Buddha in Ushiku".
This was a place where all our local friends were telling us to visit from before.

It was huge! We have seen it from the distance, when we get on
the highway to head for Iwaki. But it was really huge!
This buddha is the world's tallest standing buddha in the world
and is registered to the Guiness World book of Record for its height.
You can go up to the chest of the buddha by elevator,too.

In the back of the standing buddha, there was a "Little Zoo of Squirrels and Rabbits", that small children would really enjoy.
To see this buddha, you usually have to pay admission fee to get in,
but our local friends told us last night that, admission fee is free during the New Year's.
It was a nearby sightseeing spot that's worthwhile going to see.
By the way, there was an earthquake yesterday.
We were just about to get out of the parking lot, when it hit us
in our car.
We were surprised that even moving cars shake sideways at magnitude 4 earthquake.
It shook for a quite a long time and we both froze.
It was a scary experince.
