免許を取得した後、最初の愛車となったのがです。正確には写真の"GT APEX"ではなく3ドアの”GT V”に乗っていました。
カローラ　レビンと兄弟車でしたが、当時珍しかったリトラクタブルヘッドライトでトレノに決めた記憶があります。タイヤとホイールを換えてよく峠を攻めに行ってたなあ。まだ運転が未熟だったのにかなり無茶してたので、何度か事故りそうになりました。今となってはいい思い出です。

以下AE86トレノの説明
通称「'''ハチロク'''」。このモデルから最終モデルに至るまで、[[4A-GE]]型・1600cc・DOHCエンジンが搭載されている。
3ドア･白黒(いわゆる｢パンダトレノ｣)の最高グレード"GT APEX"がコミック「[[頭文字D]]」の主人公(藤原拓海)の愛車ということもあり、一部の自動車ファンの間でAE86型の人気が再燃した。
1985年のマイナーチェンジには”GT V”を除くグレードに[[オートマチックトランスミッション|AT]]仕様も追加されたが、台数的に希少である。
なお、4A-GE型1600cc DOHCは3A-U型1500cc SOHCをベースにYAMAHAがチューニングしたもので初期型はグロス130PS（ネット115PS相当）であったが、最終的に170PS(スーパーチャージャー付き)まででるようになる。
