I am Tetsuo Ogawa.
When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, I was living in Hiraizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture.
Hiraizumi Town is inland, but it was hit by a magnitude 7 earthquake, but all of my family members were safe.
Immediately after the earthquake, rescue teams from all over the world gathered in the affected area and many lives were saved.
We also received warm support from many people.
Although conflicts continue in various places these days, at that time, people of various races and religions joined forces toward the goal of saving lives.
I can't thank them enough.
As one of the victims, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the countries around the world who supported Japan.
I love music and have been working in music ever since.
Immediately after the earthquake, I started a project to support reconstruction through music.
Later, this activity changed into an activity to express my gratitude to everyone who supported me.
I learned all of these actions from great musicians. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison.
When the Armenian earthquake occurred, rock musicians came together to show their support.
Queen wrote a song with gratitude to their Japanese fans.
MR.BIG, a band that recently disbanded, was scheduled to hold a concert at the Iwate Prefectural Civic Hall in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in April, just after the earthquake. However, the Iwate Prefectural Civic Hall became unusable due to repeated aftershocks.
At the time, all kinds of events were canceled, but they did not cancel the concert and changed the venue to Morioka Civic Hall, and the concert was held. Not only those who went to the concert, but many fans were truly grateful to them.
And in 2017, I performed a live show in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture to convey MR.BIG's achievements and to give some energy to the drummer Pat, who was battling an illness.
When I reported this to Billy, the bassist, I received a reply.
Are there any professional Japanese musicians who care so much about their fans?
I don't know if there are any professional Japanese musicians who are doing activities to express their gratitude to people around the world.
These great musicians have taught me the preciousness of life, the incredible power of music, and the importance of putting gratitude into action.
To express my gratitude to all of you, I have written a blog post in English.

Immediately after the earthquake, I was living in Hiraizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture.
A few months later, Hiraizumi Town was registered as a World Heritage Site.
People from all over the world came to say to me in Japanese, "Good luck!"
I was very touched.
My job was as a masseuse, and I worked from home.
Many people were evacuated to Rikuzentakata City First Junior High School.
I volunteered to treat the evacuees, hoping to relieve their fatigue even a little.
The evacuees were smiling and talking to each other, spending time together.
What can I do for the victims?
I put the feelings of those who died into lyrics and music, made CDs, and started distributing them.
In addition to my musical activities, I also wrote letters to the editor in newspapers across the country, calling for support.
My activities were featured in the newspaper, but I was forced to move due to the earthquake and my mother's heart surgery.
The earthquake recovery project was initiated at the request of Iwate Prefectural Library, and I was able to send CDs to libraries across the country, and also convey gratitude for the support to Japanese schools overseas.
People of various ethnicities and religions from all over the world rushed to support the victims. People from all over the world gathered in the disaster area, and many lives were saved.
And thanks to donations from all over the world, various industries have been rebuilt.
As one of the victims, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who saved lives, donated funds, and participated in various support activities.
I would like to visit the countries where you all live in person and convey my gratitude for your support. There are other things I want to accomplish.
But it will cost a lot of money.
It may be a silly thing to say, but I want to leave a legacy of MR. BIG's achievements. They worked hard not only in the Great East Japan Earthquake, but also in the Great Hanshin Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake, and the Noto Earthquake, trying to help in whatever way they could.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Billy sent a message to the people of Iwate Prefecture.
As a disaster victim myself, I want to leave their achievements for future generations. I want professional Japanese musicians to have the same passion as them and convey the wonder of music to people living in all parts of the world.
That's why I thought I had to be the first to act.

Before I moved to Saitama Prefecture, I received a call from Iwate Prefectural Library, who had seen my newspaper article.
The person in charge asked me to send a CD as a record of the earthquake.
I felt like electricity was running through my body. I thought that if I sent this CD to Iwate Prefectural Library and to libraries all over the country, I could convey my feelings to the whole country.
As I continued my activities, I also faced one problem.
Everyone thinks that it is a wonderful activity. However, I can't help but feel that giving CDs to the victims is like forcing my feelings on them. I don't need it. Some people may think so.
If I could send this CD to libraries all over the country, this problem might be solved. Because libraries are public institutions and anyone who is interested can listen to it.
I thought that by sending this CD to libraries, I could convey my gratitude to the cities and towns that supported me.
Before the earthquake, I was able to publish a book. Before opening my practice in Hiraizumi, I was doing treatments in Tamagawa Onsen, Akita Prefecture. People fighting illnesses come from all over the country. I was able to publish this book at the request of a customer who passed away.
The earthquake recovery project was initiated at the request of Iwate Prefectural Library, and I was able to send CDs to libraries across the country, and also convey gratitude for the support to Japanese schools overseas.
