The noise of the crowd stops me from hearing anything. I feel that it is like being close to a limitless silence.
Each sound is connected but no words remain within me. I paint the traces of things that remain in my memory, and as I create collages with photographs that I have taken the meaning of the images disappear. An outline, a name, those recognizable elements are destroyed. For example, the moment I photograph fish scales or raindrops they remain recognizable, however after trimming and making collage they become parts of a landscape or body, they take on an uncertain existence. I want to be able to trace and engrave the fading memory of these changing images on my canvas. The completed image seems to express something strongly, but in fact it says nothing.
