巨人は２８日、元阪神のジョージ・アリアス内野手（３４）＝１８０センチ、８６キロ、右投げ右打ち＝との契約が合意に達したと発表した。今季いっぱいの契約で、同内野手は７月上旬にも来日する。背番号は「９１」。小久保のけがもあり、巨人は右の長距離打者の獲得に乗り出していた。外野を守らせる可能性もある。
アリアスは日本（オリックス、阪神）で２００４年まで５年間プレーし、通算１５９本塁打、４３１打点をマーク。今季はメキシカンリーグのティフアナで８０試合に出場して、打率２割７分２厘、１９本塁打、７１打点の成績を残している。
The giant announced that the contract with Georgia ria shoreline infielder (34) in former Hanshin had reached agreement on the 28th. This infielder comes to Japan in the beginning of July at this season by a full contract. The uniform number is "91". There was Kokubo's injury, too and the giant was starting acquisition of the long distance batter in the right. There is a possibility of defending the outfield, too.
Arias plays for five years in Japan (oryx and Hanshin) until 2004, and marks 159 totaling home runs and 431 runs batted in. It participates in 80 games with Tifana of the Mexican league, and the result of 2 rins for the batting average 20 percent sevenminutes, 19 home runs, and 71 runs batted in has been left at this season.
