I would like to stress that in this region at that moment the aviation of Russia’s Airspace Forces was not involved."
SOT, Vladimir Savchenko, Head of the Centre for Reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria (in Russian): "At 17:00 o’clock two F-16 aircraft, two A-10 aircrafts and unmanned combat air vehicle of the US Air Forces launched air strikes on key targets belonging to the defense units of the armed forces in the Syria Arab Republic in the area located six kilometers south of the airport of Deir ez-Zor."

We consider that this incident which caused many casualties became possible as the coalition commanders were not aware of the situation and that the American side didn’t want to coordinate its actions with Russia to combat terrorist groups on the Syrian territory.
