Indexで分野(専門)別に分けてあるので、自分の勉強したい分野を研究しているプログラムや大学院について調べることができます。私は、Child ClinicalとClinicalのPhDを備えた大学院で、APAに認められていて（APA Accreditation）、Assistantship/Fellowshipで学費がまかなえるということを第一の基準として絞り込みました。このガイドブックからはそれぞれの大学院でどの分野でどの学位が授与されているか、何年に何人受験し、何人合格したか、卒業率、合格基準、願書の中で何が重視されているか、経済的援助の方法やプログラムの目的といった細かい情報を得ることができます。毎年改訂版が出版されています。

ClinicalとCounseling PsychologyのPhDプログラムのさらに詳細な情報を提供しています。（２）や（４）の内容と照らし合わせながら、プログラムを選びました。Chapter１では混同しやすいClinicalとCounseling Psychologyの違いやThe Boulder Model(Ph.D.)とThe Vail Model(Psy.D.)の違いを説明しています。臨床やリサーチのClinical PsychologyとCounseling Psychology以外での選択肢の説明もされていて、自分がしたいことはどの分野でできるのかを幅広く考えることができます。Individual Programs（Clinical Psychology とCounseling Psychologyの博士課程のみ）の分析では、そのプログラムのOrientation(臨床重視か研究重視)、教授陣のOrientation（例: Cognitive/Cognitive behavioral, Neuropsychology/Biological, Psychodynamicなど）、入学前に取っておくべき教科、GRE・GPAの平均点、最低点、望まれる点、合格率、経済的援助の可能性、研究されている分野、助成金の数、臨床経験の機会がある分野などの情報を得ることができます。ClinicalやCounselingでPh.D.やPsy.D.を目指している人にはとてもお勧めの一冊です。毎年改訂版が出版されています。
