が近い将来に社会全体に大きな影響を与えて、働き方から生活までも変えてしまうのではないかと予測されている。ところが近年急速にやってきた猛暑がこれより早く我々の生活や働き方を変えそうだ。
猛暑の仕事への影響は2つに分けられる。より影響が大きいのが屋外で働く農業や建築、生産業の従事者である。対策として、労働時間を短くし休憩をより頻繁にとる、また昼より夜に働くなどがある。これに比較すると屋内で働く人はより安全であるが、やはり働き方を変えることになる。例えば、リモートあるいは職場とリモートの折衷、週4日制、1日6時間労働等である。また、両労働者にあてはまるが、インフラの改造が必要となる。エアコンに向くように建物を作くらなければならない。その他に、熱による健康障害で、仕事の効率が低下する、医療費がかかるという問題も考慮しなければならない。予測より温暖化が急だったので、こうした対応をしている国は非常に少ないという。既に早朝に働きはじめて、日中には終えるようにしているところは国によってはあるようだ。
猛暑に備えるためにこれからなによりも重要になるのは冷却のためのエネルギーである。気温の上昇を抑制しながらエネルギー需要をまかなうのに、再生エネルギーは効率や費用の面で大丈夫なのだろうか。核融合の実用化まではいったん廃止に向かった原子力に依存せざるを得ないのではないだろうか。
It is predicted that AI will give a great impact on our society in the near future. But the extreme heat in summer may change the way we live and work before AI will do.
The workplace changes are divided into two categories. Heat impact is larger on the outdoor works such as agriculture, constructing and manufacturing. Those workers need more shifts with longer breaks, and night works. In the meantime, it is safer to those who work indoors. But they also need their work arrangements such as remote work, six hours a day and four days a week work. Buildings infrastructure with better airconditioning system is also required for comfortable and efficient working condition.
Energy for cooling will be the greatest demand of all. Balance between growing energy demand and carbon dioxide suppression is a challenging issue. Despite the fear of another nuclear disaster, we might rely on nuclear power.
