1月23日の徹底トレーニング英会話に出てきた
The minute someone wins the lottery, swarms of lawyers, financial advisors, and people claiming to be distant relatives and old friends descend on them.
のうち、someoneを受けた代名詞がthemとなっていてちょっと気になりました。
このsomeone はwinsというでかって、3単元のsがついているので、単数扱い。なのに、なぜ代名詞が複数のthem？と。
多分、someoneはthemで受けるという例外なんだろうなあとは思いつつ、念のため、文法書をひもといてみました。

（久しぶりに見ると、表紙の色が変っていました。新版が出たみたい）
Unit82 some and any というユニットで
・Someone is here to see you.
But we often use they/them/their after these words:
・Someone has forgotten their umbrella.(=his or her umbrella)
・If anybody wants to leave early, they can.(=he or she can)
で、まさに今回の例の解説のような説明がありました。
やはり１つくらいはしっかりした文法書があると安心ですね。
（いや、ちゃんと練習問題やれってば、私・・・）
でも、これはやはりジェンダーフリーの流れなのかしら。
sheとかheで女性、男性を受けるのではなく。
