５月１１日に形上は結婚しましたが、家族、友人等を招いての結婚式やReceptionは行っていません。
これから、計画を立てて、予算のやりくりをしながら準備していきたいと思いっています。
ですので、現在は日本で言う籍を入れた状態でしょうか。
こちらで説明するときは、”We are legally married.”とよくいっています。
手続きとしては、
自分の住んでいるCountyのMarriage License Officeに行き、Marriage Licenseの申し込みをします。
その時必要だったのは、各自のDriver's LicenseとSocial Security Cardだけだったと思います。
その場で、Lisenceを印刷してはくれますが、まだそれは正式に認められた物ではありません。
有効にするためにはJudge、または宗教によってはPasterに小さな式をとおり行ってもらい、
さらにその際には、二人のWitnessesが必要になります。通常は結婚する２人のどちらかの両親になるでしょうか。
その二人にもLicenseにサインをしてもらう必要があります。
JudgeまたはPasterに執り行ってもらう式ですが、本当に形式だけのものです。
Marriage License Officeにある部屋を予約して、そこで式を上げることもできますが、
私達の場合は、時間的に都合がつかなかったので、JudgeのOfficeで式を執り行いました。
JudgeはMarriage License Officeで連絡先のリストがもらえるので、直接電話をしてお願いをしました。
私達の場合、＄７５を支払いました。
実際にやったことは、本当にシンプルです。
結婚式でよくある、誓いの言葉と指輪交換の部分だけをやる感じでしょうか。
私たちは、その日までに指輪が届かなかったので、指輪交換さえありませんでした。
以下に私達がやった宣誓の全文を載せます。
Family and friends, we are gathered together to join with アメリア and 太郎（仮） in the celebration of their marriage.
Marriage is a commitment to life - and to the best that two people can find and bring out in each other.
It offers opportunities for growth and sharing within our human relationships. A physical and emotional joining that is promise for lifetime.
太郎, do you declare in the presence of these witnesses that you take アメリア to be your lawfully wedded wife? If so, answer, "I will." --太郎 says "I will."
Will you love her, comfort her, honor and stand by her in sickness and in health, and be faithful to her. If so, answer, "I will." --太郎 says "I will."

Judgeがこの文章を読み上げ、私達が必要なところをリピートして終了です。
あとは、Licenseにサインをしてもらいます。
私たちはこの式を朝に行ったので、その後すぐにサインをしてもらったLicenseをMarriage License Officeに再提出しに行き、すべての手続きは終了。Licenseもその場でまた返却してもらうことができました。
とりあえず、結婚式、披露宴がなかったので手続自体は超簡単でした。
手続きがすべて終了した直後も、あまり結婚した感覚がわかなかったくらいです（笑）
私の両親は日本にいるので、もちろん参加できませんでした。
残念なことですが、仕方がないですね。
来年、おそらく日本を訪れる予定なので、その再何らかの形で一緒にお祝いができればと考えています。
