「空気を読む」ということらしいですね。
日本人特有の考え方でしょうか？
会話の流れから、「言わなくてもわかるでしょう～？？？空気を読めよ～」
この放送を聞いていて、外人にはムリだぁ～。とそんなことを思いました。

＊vocation 英和、英英辞典の説明では、すこしわかりずらい？放送ではa strong feeling of suitability for the person, it's not just a job you're doing for the money you don't like it something worthy of delication maybe requires very hard work 適性があり、献身的にその仕事に携わることも必要
またspiritual aspect があり、spritual calling(神様のお召し）のような意味で使われたが、今はLife's workのようなものを意味する
grudgingly いやいやながら、しぶしぶ

filial 子供としてふさわしい
=relating to the relationship of a son or daughter to their parents

ちょうどこのKYをHerald Tribuneの社説で読んだばかりでした。確かに日本人以外にはわかりにくいかもしれませんね。

Herald Tribuneの見てきました。
長い！と思いましたが、最初の方は楽しく読めました。途中から難しく、面倒になってきましたが・・・
ＫＹ、やっぱりこれは日本特有ですよね。そういうところを英会話上級はバンバンついてきて、興味深いです。 (2007年09月20日 20時24分30秒)
