2-2)Pさん: Hi Ken, below is my word for the year with a brief write-up 混乱 konran ("confusion") (please feel free to correct the word if I have chosen the wrong Japanese) In the days following the Tohoku Earthquake, Japan was thrown into a state of confusion - what had happened? What's happening at the Fukushima nuclear power plant? What's TEPCO and the government not telling us? In the months that followed, the Japanese people united and selflessly worked together - yet many questions remained, and STILL remain as the country moves into 2012.
before the disasters (economic standing, birth rate, so on and so forth). To me, Japan in 2011 was a very confusing place to live, the present often covered in fog and the future just as unclear. Hope that's OK! Thanks

My one word for the year would be: evanescent. It is a word that basically means "vanishing quickly," as in a morning fog. So much in my life has disappeared this past year; sometimes good, sometimes bad. Good luck!
