ロックという音楽は、岩をも砕くような激しさを模して名づけら
れた筈ですが、世の中には美しいロックというものもあります(笑)。

マリリオンの音楽は典型的なブリティッシュ・ロックで、プログ
レッシヴ・ロックのテイストがあることからプログレにカテゴラ
イズされていますが、音楽をジャンル分けすることの無意味さが
ここにも表出していて、思い切った表現をすればポール・セザン
ヌのサント・ヴィクトワールの絵のようにイングランド郊外の風
景と人を切り取ったようなロックという感じ(笑)です。

だからなのかどうなのか、フランスのパリ公演はいつも大成功で、

いて驚きます。

はたまた東洋の島国にも熱烈なファンがいたりするので、このバ
ンドの魅力というのは、ナチュラルな美しさをさりげなくメロディ
に載せる詩心にあるのではないでしょうか。
