子どものいるアメリカにお住まいの方、またはアメリカに

私の所に届いたアメリカで現在回っているメールを公開します。

簡単な和訳を下につけます。
私の訳なので適当ですが、わかりやすく要点は押さえます。

TRUE STORY:
I wanted to share something that happened today while shopping at Sam’sClub.

今日、「サムズクラブ」でお買い物をしていた時に
実際に起こった事をお話します。

turned around to find her 4-yr. old daughter
was missing.

I was standing there right beside her， and she was calling her daughter with no luck.

あるお母さんがお肉を見ていて、一緒にいた４歳の娘の方
を振り向くと見当たらない。

私はそのお母さんのすぐ隣に立っていました。
長女がいなくなったことに気づいたそのお母さんは娘の名を必死に呼びました。

I asked a man who worked at Sam’s to announce it over the loud speaker for Katie.
He did， and let me say he immediately walked right past me when I asked and went to
a pole where there was a phone.

私はサムズの定員にケリーを店内のスピーカーで

定員は直ぐさま、壁の柱にある電話へ向かい、

He made an announcement for all
the doors and gates to be locked， a Code-something.

店内のすべてのドアとゲートを閉じる様にスピーカーで
アナウンスして、そしてある″暗号″を言いました。

This took all of 3 minutes after I asked the guy to
do this. They found the little girl 5 minutes later
in a bathroom stall.

私がその店員にアナウンスを頼んでからお店が
全部のドアを閉めるまでにかかった時間はたった、３分。

お店の人達が小さな女の子を店内のトイレの中で
見つけたのはドアを閉めたその５分後でした。

Her head was half shaved， and she was wearing only
her underwear.

見つかった女の子の髪は半分剃られていて、
下着一枚しか身に着けていませんでした。

There was a bag of clothes， a razor， and wig sitting
on the floor beside her to complete her disguise.

そこには女の子を完全に変装させる為の衣類の入った
カバンとかみそり、そしてカツラが女の子のそばの床に
ころがっていました。

Whoever this person was， took the little girl，
brought her into the bathroom， shaved half
her head， and undressed her in a matter of less than 10 minutes.

この犯人はどうやってか、たった１０分以内に女の子を
トイレの中に連れ込み、髪を半分は剃り終え服を脱がせた
という事になります。

This makes me shake to no end. Please keep a close
eye on your kids when in places where it’s easy for you to get separated.

これには本当に震えあがりました。
お願いです。はぐれやすい場所では決して自分の子ども
から目を離さないで下さい。

It only took a few minutes to do all of that--
another 5 minutes and she would have been disguised and out the door.

たったの数分でこんなことが出来うるんです．．．
あと５分後にはこの女の子は変装させられてドアから
出ていたことでしょう。

このとき、定員が言った暗号とは、"Code Adam"
コード・アダムです。

アダム君は何年も前に同じように誘拐されて殺された
子どもの名前です。

もしも、アメリカのお店の中で子どもを見失ってしまったら
直ちに近くの店員に知らせてください。
アメリカの大型チェーンのスーパー「ウォルマート」と
「サムズクラブ」ではこの暗号を店内のスピーカーで
アナウンスします。

すると、すべての店員は仕事の手を止めてドアをロックし、
ゲートを閉めて子どもを捜します。
見つからないと判断された場合は警察が呼ばれます。

日本では子どもだけが店内を走り回る光景がよく
見られますが、アメリカのスーパーでは滅多に、子どもは
走っていません。

それだけ、誘拐事件は多いのです。
それに男児、女児問わず、幼児に対する異常な性的
いたずらが多いのも特徴です。

私も反省です。
時々、ウォルマートやＫ－マートで子どもを
走らせる事があるのでこれも日本の生活に慣れていた
甘えからかもしれません。

これを読んで子どもから決して目を離さないアメリカの
お母さんを見習おうと改めて思いました。

同じようなメールがアメリカで昨年も回ったようですが、
１１月からのホリディ・シーズンのお店は人も多く、
事件も多い時です、気をひきしめたいですね。

子どもを犯罪から守れるのは両親と、そして
周りの協力も必要です。

このサイトを見るようにとお知らせがありました。

このサイトにはメールの話は作り話だと言う事と共に
事実が書いてありました。

事実は子ども達は毎年100，000回も行方不明になっていると
いうこと、（もっと怖い…）

そしてコード・アダムは実際、ノース・アメリカ
全国的にサムズやウォル・マートを含めた２，５００も
のストアで実行されているそうです。（すごいですね）

１０分以内に子どもが見つからない場合は警察を
呼ぶことになっているそうです。

ポールさんは嘘の話で人を怖がらせるのは良くないと
書いていましたが、私はそうは思いませんでした。

このメールをもらった私を含めた母親達はきっと
その翌日から自分の子ども達から目を離せなかったと
思います。

★今日、「ザ・リング」を見てきました。
アメリカでこんなに怖い映画を見たのは、初めてです。
映画館で大勢の観客が叫び声をあげていました。
（もちろん、私も．．．）

見た後は全身に鳥肌が立っていました。
内容は日本のとかなり、同じでした。

今夜は電気をつけて、寝よう．．．
