"Kokoro" holds a circle of prayer once every month with people from all over the world and people from the afflicted areas in Japan. On Wednesday August 10th at 11pm NY time (Thursday 11th at 12:00 noon in Japan), we ask you to join us.
There is a documentary called "Alexei& the Spring" (Алексей и Крыница). The score is by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the movie won awards at the international film festival of Berlin. The film takes place in Budische, a village that endured a forced evacuation after the Chernobyl accident. Despite the government's injunction, fifty five village elders and one young man, Alexei, remained. The surrounding area quickly became contaminated, yet no radiation was detected at a single spring in the village. Every day, those that remained in Budische offered prayer and thanks to the spring, praying the water would give them strength, protection and healing. Somehow, miraculously, they did not get sick.
In this world, there are some things we don't know how to explain: the spring in Budische is one of those things, and prayer is another. If such miracles as "Alexei& the Spring" exist, now we would like to pray for Fukushima. We would like to protect our beautiful Fukushima. We would like to protect our beloved Japan, and its people.
This month, "Kokoro" will hold a prayer on Wednesday August 10th at 11pm NY time (Thursday 11th at noon, Japanese time).
