Exclusive Interview: B’z Talk Upcoming Tour, Debut English Album & More!
Only a little over a year has passed since the last B’z performance on American soil, and now you’re scheduled to come back for your biggest and most anticipated international tour to date. What are your initial feelings coming into these shows?
前回のアメリカ国内でのB'zのライブから1年強が過ぎ、そして今度は、これまでで最大で最高に期待されるインターナショナルツアーのためにお二人は戻ってきます。 今度のライブに向けて、どのようにお感じですか？
Tak: This tour is going to be the 4th tour in the US for B'z. I always love to play in the US, and I would like to release more English songs for the American audiences.
松本：今回でB'zのアメリカツアーは4回目になります。 僕はアメリカでプレーするのが大好きなので、アメリカのオーディエンスに向けてもっと英語詞の曲をリリースしたいと思っています。
Koshi: We had so much fun on the last North American tour, we wanted to do it again. We are looking forward to the US audience hearing our new English songs.
稲葉：前回の北米ツアーがものすごく楽しかったので、またやりたいと思っていました。 アメリカのお客さんに、僕たちの新しい英語詞の曲を聴いてもらえるのが楽しみです。
There are many passionate fans in North America that are looking forward to your return. With the seven shows beginning September 17th in San Francisco, you will be visiting cities you haven't performed in before. How do you feel about playing in new places?
たくさんの熱心な北米のファンが、お二人が戻ってきてくれるのを楽しみにしています。 9月17日のサンフランシスコを皮切りに7公演ありますが、これまで行ったことのなかった都市も訪れます。 新たな場所で演奏することについてはどうお感じですか？
Tak: It’s really fun! I love it. I want to play everywhere I haven't been yet.
松本：本当に楽しみです！ 素晴らしいですよね。 まだ行ったことのないところでもどこでもプレーしてみたいです。
Koshi: I always enjoy the feeling of excitement and meeting the local people.
稲葉：地元の人たちに会えることに、いつもわくわくするような感覚を味わっています。
American and international fans in general have been very enthusiastic about the new English songs and the upcoming tour. What is it like having fans so far outside of Japan?
アメリカをはじめたとした世界のファンは皆、新しい英語詞の曲と今回のツアーを非常に喜んでいます。 日本国外にこれだけファンがいるというのは、どんな気分がするものですか？
Tak: I'm just so grateful to North American audiences for giving us a reason to have a show.
松本：ライブをやるきっかけを与えたくれたアメリカのオーディエンスに、非常に感謝しています。
Koshi: It was a great pleasure to know there are people who enjoy our music even in places we have never been.
Recently, the English album featuring brand new English songs was released worldwide on iTunes. What can you tell us about the album?
先日、新たな英語詞の曲を収録したアルバムがiTunesで世界配信されました。 どんなアルバムなのですか？
Koshi: This is our first album all in English. We picked 5 songs from our catalog, added English lyrics and new arrangements, and re-recorded them.
稲葉：これは僕たち初の、全部英語詞のアルバムです。 持ち歌から選んだ5曲に英語の詞と新たなアレンジを付け加えて、リ・レコーディングしました。
Millions of people were exposed to B’z for the first time this year with the release of the video game Dragon’s Dogma, for which you contributed "Into Free -Dangan-" as its theme song. What traits define the song for you?
「Into Free -Dangan-」 を主題歌に提供したテレビゲーム 「ドラゴンズ・ドグマ」 がリリースされたことで、何百万もの人々が今年、B'zに初めて出会いました。 この曲の特徴はなんですか？
Tak: Heavy, catchy and Asian beauty.
松本：ヘビー、キャッチー、そしてアジア的な美しさです。
Koshi: I believe it is the sense of speed the song has.
稲葉：曲の持つスピード感だと思います。
B’z has been making hit music together for nearly a quarter-century now. What is it that music means to you at this point?
B'zはほぼ四半世紀にわたって、ともにヒット曲を作ってきました。 いまこの時点で、あなたにとって音楽とはなんですか？
Tak: Music is the best way to express myself. It’s my life.
松本：音楽は自己表現のための最高の方法です。 人生そのものです。
Koshi: It’s like a magic door that can take me to different places and seasons instantly.
稲葉：一瞬にして、違う場所や季節に僕を連れて行ってくれる、魔法のドアみたいなものです。
It surely isn’t an easy task to stay successful in the music industry for so long. What is it that keeps you motivated?
音楽業界で長く成功し続けるのは簡単なことではありません。 モチベーションはどうキープしているのですか？
Tak: We’ve had a wonderful career for the past 24 years. Being a member of B'z motivates me to work hard and keep on going.
松本：僕たちはこの24年の間に素晴らしいキャリアを積むことができました。 B'zのメンバーでいることが、頑張って走り続けるための僕のモチベーションです。
Koshi: It’s pure pleasure for me to put on a show and have people come to see it.
Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the band. Do you have anything special planned?
来年はバンドも25周年を迎えます。 何か特別な計画はありますか？
Tak: We don’t know specifically yet, but we'll definitely be touring and making new music.
松本：具体的なことはまだ分からないけど、もちろん、新曲を作ってツアーをします。
Koshi: We'd like to have a big 25th anniversary tour! Also, I would like to keep the stance of being able to perform anywhere in the world, not just North America.
稲葉：25周年の大きなツアーをしたいですね！ それから、北米だけでなく、世界のどんなところでも演奏できるスタンスも持っていたいです。
