伊豆急下田駅について

伊豆急下田駅（いずきゅうしもだえき）は、静岡県下田市東本郷一丁目に所在する鉄道駅であり、伊豆急行線の南端に位置する終着駅です。1961年（昭和36年）12月10日に開業し、以来、伊豆半島南部の主要な交通拠点として利用されています。運営は伊豆急行株式会社です。

この駅は、伊東駅から続く伊豆急行線の終点であり、列車は美しい海岸線をたどりながら下田まで走っています。観光地としても知られる下田市へのアクセスにおいて、重要な役割を担っています。

駅舎は地上にあり、改札口とホームは同じレベルに設置されています。エレベーターやエスカレーターは設置されていませんが、段差のない構造のため、比較的移動しやすい設計となっています。改札を出るとすぐにバスターミナルがあり、市内各地へのバスやタクシーの乗り場が整っています。

駅構内には売店や観光案内所が設けられ、地元の特産品や土産物を購入できるほか、観光情報も得られます。また、多目的トイレも設置されています。

鉄道は普通列車のほか、東京方面から直通運転する特急「踊り子」号も乗り入れており、首都圏からのアクセスが便利です。観光シーズンには多くの利用客で賑わいますが、普段は地域住民の通勤・通学にも利用されています。

周辺には下田公園、ペリーロード、下田港などの観光名所があり、徒歩圏内でさまざまな散策が楽しめます。また、下田港からは伊豆諸島方面への船便も利用可能です。

伊豆急下田駅は、鉄道の終点であると同時に、伊豆半島南部の豊かな自然と歴史を訪れるための出発点となっています。

About Izukyu-Shimoda Station

Izukyu-Shimoda Station is a railway station located in Higashihongo 1-chome, Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It serves as the southern terminus of the Izu Kyuko Line. Opened on December 10, 1961, the station has been an important transportation hub for the southern part of the Izu Peninsula. It is operated by the Izu Kyuko Corporation.

The station marks the end of the Izu Kyuko Line, which runs from Ito Station along the scenic coastline to Shimoda. It plays a key role in providing access to Shimoda, a well-known tourist destination.

The station building is at ground level, and both the ticket gates and the platform are on the same level. There are no elevators or escalators installed at the station. However, the station layout is relatively simple, making it easy to move around without stairs. Just outside the ticket gates, there is a bus terminal offering routes to various parts of Shimoda City, as well as a taxi stand.

Inside the station, visitors will find a shop and a tourist information center where they can purchase local specialties and gather sightseeing information. A multi-purpose restroom is also available.

Train services include local trains as well as the limited express “Odoriko” trains, which offer direct service to and from Tokyo, providing convenient access for travelers. During peak tourist seasons, the station becomes particularly busy, while on regular days it serves local commuters and students.

Nearby, visitors can easily reach attractions such as Shimoda Park, Perry Road, and Shimoda Port on foot. Ferries from Shimoda Port also provide access to the Izu Islands.

Izukyu-Shimoda Station is not only the end point of a railway line but also the starting point for exploring the rich nature and history of the southern Izu Peninsula.
